Hello! we are a family of five living by the River Wye, walking distance from Hay-on-Wye ( 10 mins). We are busy and active creative freelancers but also pouring love into a lovely bungalow surrounded by woods. We welcome home help - general house tidying and pet care. We go away from time to time so need housesitters too. There is general maintenance always required on the house and the garden. Our children are two girls 9 & 7 and a little boy, 3. We have four furry family members - two cats and two dogs plus many chickens. We are very relaxed and welcoming, and have always enjoyed workaway friends. We have canoes Kayaks you can use in the summer. We love bbq's and sitting out under the stars. We are very close to the river. The house is isolated from neighbours, surrounded by woodland and offering magnificent views. Its a truly magical spot and only a ten minute walk to Hay.

From epic snow adventures to gorgeous Christmas trips away, I've had the best time with this family and will be forever grateful for my experience!

Their home, nestled in peaceful woodland by the River Wye, was a beautiful and welcoming place to stay. I helped with general tidying, playing with the kids, and occasional house and garden tasks. The work was varied… read more but never overwhelming, and there was always time to enjoy the stunning surroundings or walk into town. Venetia and Ollie were incredibly kind and thoughtful, especially when it came to meals; they always made sure my pescatarian diet was catered for with delicious, wholesome food. The kids, pets, and relaxed, friendly atmosphere made it feel like home. I'm so grateful for my time here and would absolutely recommend this Workaway to anyone looking for a warm, nature-filled experience.

It was three months of adventures, joy, learning, calm, and a lot of love. I feel really grateful for the opportunity to find and share time with such beautiful beings. I take with me plenty of good memories filled with laughter, learning, delicious food, refreshing walks, and much love.
I really enjoyed walking in the beautiful Welsh countryside… read more and exploring the charming town of Hay-on-Wye. And if you're brave enough, you might even take a dip in the river near the house!

Where to begin?? Staying with this family was the highlight of my season- Venetia and Ollie are exactly what you hope for in WorkAway hosts. What a great time I've had here in Wales with Venetia and Ollie, their three children, their two dogs, two cats and five chickens!
So much has happened in six months, from week-ends and holidays visiting friends to the calmer rainy days in Wales spent at home having lots of fun. The three children are a joy to look after and never cease to… read more entertain me! Venetia and Ollie are always coming up with fun activities to do and are also great cooks! The house is lovely and only ten minutes walking distance from Hay-on-Wye which is such a unique and pretty little town. The daily walks with the dogs is a such a pleasure as we walk along The river Wye and are surrounded by the Welsh mountains.
For my first workaway experience I am very grateful to have arrived in this wonderful home, I couldn't recommend staying with this family any more!

We were lucky enough to spend a wonderful month with Venetia, Ollie, their lovely girls and animals in Puglia, Italy this autumn. The house was situated in very tranquil countryside with amazing views and we even stayed in our own private apartment which was perfect for a couple to have their own space. The work was fair and varied - from… read more cleaning, cooking, tidying the house, looking after the girls and walking the animals. We chipped in wherever necessary, which really made us feel like part of the family! Venetia ensured we visited many places that beautiful Puglia has to offer, whether it be a quaint southern Italian village or a picturesque beach. We also enjoyed delicious dinners and got taught some cooking skills whilst there :) we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a Workaway experience with this family. Thanks guys!

I have no words to describe this lovely family. I was received with much love and affection that made my experience incredible. Somerset is a special place in the UK with really cool people and I can not wait to get back. I spent 2 lovely months with Venetia and her family and won many friends who will be in my heart forever.
