    Description

Our place was established in July 2020 and is situated 10 kilometers west of the town of Fort Portal in Western Uganda. Our lodge is located on a ridge of the dramatic Great Rift Valley with stunning views of the Rwenzori Mountains, Lake Albert and the Semliki Wildlife Reserve. Each pod in the lodge's unique design was created to give guests (and workawayers!) unique, 120-degree panoramic views of the Rift Valley.

Our goal here is to treat guests to the trip of a lifetime while maintaining a low carbon footprint. We built the lodge utilizing locally sourced materials and employing local artisans who created one-of-kind tapestries and beautifully unique furniture pieces. We operate the lodge with over 80% renewable energy, such as solar-powered hot water and electrical systems.

We currently have 14 staff members. The service team is made up of 4 people and they're responsible for guests service. The kitchen department is run by 3 people and are responsible for dietary needs of guests and staff. Gardening and compound maintenance has 2 staff who are responsible for gardening and overall outlook of our green spaces. Maintenance has 2 people who do general maintenance, painting, plumbing and electrical fixes. Administrative unit has 3 people overseeing the operations from support, marketing, accounting to planning and strategy.

Workawayers here will get to learn about Ugandan living and work life while spending time with our local employees as well as our guests (most of whom are also Ugandan). Our workawayers will be able to interact with the nearby community and people in the Ugandan tourism industry, all while staying in one of East Africa’s most breathtaking natural locations.
Workawayers can expect to learn how things run far from the hustle and bustle of city life. Out here, the air is clean and the lack of distractions encourages a slower pace that is nonetheless far clearer and more focused.
From our workawayers, we hope to learn how to better market our beautiful lodge. We finished building the lodge in early 2020 and spent our first few years constantly adjusting ourselves to the chaos of current events and to everchanging restrictions. Now, things have thankfully normalized around the world and we feel we are able to make real plans for our future here. We would love to have someone come visit who knows a bit about marketing hotels. Our employees are wonderfully kind and excited to meet workawayers and we (the owners) look forward to learning whatever we can!
