Description
Dear beautiful souls,
My name is Laura and I am in the beginning phases of setting up my home and community on land I purchased in 2021.
We already have solar energy, and running water from the well, drinking water, hot showers, compost toilets and vegetable gardens.
We are taking steps towards self-sustainability in studying the land's abundance to yield not only food, water and power, but also the healing qualities they possess.
We are an English and Dutch couple and occasionally we are joined by others.
We all have our own space and come together sometimes for food , yoga, music, sharing circles and fires.
The most valuable thing we offer is a truly peaceful environment away from everything and deep in the mountains.
We are currently looking for:
- a general handyman to support us with our project.
- medium to long term resident neighbours who can take care of and develop their own piece of land here. You (and friends?) will have whole piece of private land to yourselves. You must be able to take care of yourself e.g. have own transport. We would like to come together sometimes to share food, music, fires but need someone self-sufficient here. Exchange can be a combination of help and low rent. We are open to negotiation.
All water run offs go directly into the earth and as much as possible to feed the gardens. With this in mind please bring with you natural products e.g soap, shampoo, washing up liquid.Types of help and learning opportunities

The land is set deep in the mountains of Alentejo where there are many great opportunities for (short/ long) hikes.
There are 2 river entrances, olive, fig and grape trees. You will meet people who share many stories and experiences.
This place is still in many ways a blank canvas and lots can be learnt from supporting the building of this space with your own creativity.
We are in a remote area which is extremely peaceful.
We have lots of wildlife here including wild pigs, scorpions, spiders, turtles, frogs, snakes, porcupines.
We are just across the border of Alentejo from the Algarve so in the summer the climate is dry and in the winter very lush and windy. We are always a few degrees hotter or colder than the Algarve.
We are 40 minutes to the nearest town (Almodovar) and 1.5 hours to the Algarve beaches.Help
I would love some support with the following:
🌈General handyperson help including basic wood work and gardening
🌈 I am very open to creative people and very happy to hear ideas from people!
🌈 Most importantly I would love to welcome people here who are open -hearted and who enjoy being part of a growing community space with open honest communication. We hold regular sharing circles.Languages
