    Description

Come and join our family home in South Somerset, set in large gardens with beautiful countryside on the doorstep! Help look after our two delightful daughters and enjoy your time in a stunning part of the UK.

We are lucky to live in a spacious home in the countryside, but also a short drive to a thriving market town with excellent amenities including supermarkets, a swimming pool, gym, cafes and bars. Various beaches and clifftop areas of the stunning Dorset Coast can be reached within a 30 minute drive and we are more than happy to take volunteers to explore the local area.

Our family consists of mum ( Vicky), dad (Matt) and our two home educated daughters aged 8 and 6. We are a loving and welcoming family who are experienced in hosting volunteers and have also volunteered ourselves on many occasions.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Volunteers will have the opportunity to experience life with a happy and adventurous British family. We have all travelled extensively and have enjoyed learning about life in various parts of the world during our travels and when hosting volunteers at home. We are interested in learning about our volunteers’ backgrounds and enjoy sharing stories with them. We are also interested in learning languages and are happy to help volunteers practice the English language. We regularly visit natural attractions in our local area and volunteers are more than welcome to join us on these outings.

    Help

We would like help entertaining our daughters, assisting them with their learning and supervising them on countryside walks. They have both enjoyed learning new things from previous volunteers, so any particular skill or activity you can offer would be greatly welcomed.

Matt will be at work during the daytime in the week but Vicky will be at home most of the time, gardening, doing housework and supporting the girls with their studies. It will be required that volunteers help around the house with day-to-day chores and there may also be occasions when volunteers will be required to look after the girls alone.

An average of 5 hours a day, 5 days a week will be required in return for accommodation and meals. We are flexible with exactly when hours are worked to suit volunteers preferences.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Volunteers will have their own double bedroom in the family home, with access to the shared family bathroom. The kitchen, lounge and gardens will also be accessible at any time and volunteers are encouraged to make themselves at home. Evening meals will be made and provided by us, but if you enjoy cooking you are welcome to make dishes for us all to share. Lunches are flexible and meals may be offered by us or volunteers are welcome to prepare their own meals. Breakfast will usually be self-serve, so volunteers can help themselves to what they want at a time preferred by them.

There is direct access to various countryside walks from our place and the local town is within 40 minutes walking distance, although we are more than happy to give lifts when necessary. Crewkerne is also on the direct train line from London and various larger towns and cities can be accessed by rail. We are happy to give lifts to and from the station.

There are various National Trust properties and other countryside attractions within easy access and we are more than happy to give lifts if necessary. There are also numerous small towns and cities easily accessible by public transport as well as some leisure facilities and nightlife available in the nearby town. We encourage volunteers to make the most of their time with us and to explore the local area at their convenience.
