Description
We fell in love with a house in Central Portugal (between Fátima and Tomar) and are working on our dream of converting this space into a retreat center. We love our location up on a hill in a little village that provides you with the basics (train station, little super market, restaurant, nice neighbors :-) ) with a view over the woods, surrounded by the sounds and smells of nature.
We are a family of four, we have our own chickens and a sweet dog. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Come and experience Portuguese country life in a sweet rural village close to Tomar with a touch of luxury.
We are a multi-cultural family that speaks three languages at home and has travelled and lived in various countries before settling down here. We are foodies and love sharing & learning new recipes and food creations. You are more than welcome to join our regular yoga practice as well. We are quite hands-on and like to share our skills in working with wood as well as getting together for conserving food in different ways. -

Help
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Summer '26 update:
We will be looking for someone to stay with us for 2-4 weeks in August, to help with childcare (mainly!), cooking and gardening. You will be a great fit if you have experience with childcare and are fluent in either German, Portuguese, or English. It’s a plus if you enjoy cooking :-) Please note that we can only host one person. Looking forward to hearing from you!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have a lot of tasks in different areas :-) What will be your main focus depends on your skills and preferences and might also change throughout your stay.
*********************
ALL YEAR AROUND
Household:
Helping hands are always welcome with all typical household tasks, such as cooking and organising.
Childcare / activities with the kids:
We have a 4 year and a 10 year old who are very social and will appreciate some extra playtime when they are not at school, especially the younger one. Our kids speak German, Portuguese and English.
Animals:
Our animals don't need much, but they are always happy to get some extra attention :-)
*********************
MAINLY IN THE SUMMER
Gardening:
We have a big garden that needs care (watering, weeding, cutting grass, trimming bushes, etc). We also have a little vegetable garden that we would like to make bigger once we have a few more helping hands. Depending on the season, you can join the harvesting and conserving of the fruit from our trees.
Projects:
We constantly have little DIY projects coming up, so depending on your skills and interest, we will love your help with whatever ideas come up to make our place even nicer.
*********************
You will not be working on tasks relating to our BnB business.
We expect you to do a clean up of your room and your bathroom on your departure day, and generally help keeping the common areas clean and tidy. -
