    Description

Hey, we're Jana and Ali (Germany) and Kenya is our chosen home since many years. The place we're building bares the vision of being more than just a home: it's an organic demo-farm, community-space, future destination for eco-tourism, a healing sanctuary and an artist-in-residence-site. Big parts of this vision are yet to unfold, we're living in a place in constant progress and growth.
The Family is us, our 4 four-legged sweeties, and our local family members Titus and Coletta, the heart, soul and helping hands of this home. We're located in a beautifully authentic village in the lands of the Kikuyu community at the foot of Mt. Kenya - actually, when the air is clear, Mt. Kenya is presenting itself to us FULLY when taking breakfast on our veranda!<3
We've always been connecting and working closely with the community in various projects and understand ourselves as constant learners from the people around us and an inspiration to others through our passion and experiences.

We're situated in the heart of an authentic Kenyan Kikuyu village. Our life is deeply connected with the surrounding community and our farm and home would be nothing without Titus and Coletta, our Kenyan originals;). We closely work together with social projects like a school, the village youth and friends from all around. Although we're born and raised in Germany, we eat Kenyan food and have everything to offer that a Kenyan life would - our farm provides you with fresh papaya, banana, passion, hibiscus tea and much more.

Our EXTRA FLAIR-SPECIAL: The beauty of hosting you in a traditional grass thatched hut made of soil, solar powered.

    About the surrounding:
Central Kenya offers a beautiful, diverse and infrastructurally quite "advanced". Our village is situated within the biggest rice plantations of East Africa, directly at the foot of Mt. Kenya. Within one day you can experience beautiful green hide outs, the slopes of Mt. Kenya, the Aberdares, farm projects, wild water rafting spots and much more. Nairobi is 90 min drive away, Nanyuki 2 hours (the gate to the Samburu lands), Rift Valley 3 hours. We're happy to show you our favorite spots around and help you plan your own adventurous trips.

    Help

Our sweet home offers a lot of activities from farm tasks to community help to creative projects.

Currently we're looking specifically for help in two main areas:

    1) HIBISCUS LOVE: HARVESTING, PROCESSING & MARKETING OF OUR HIBISCUS TEA
We're proud to be the only farm in this region growing beautifully aromatic hibiscus. We dry, package and sell the hibiscus - though we're still exploring many ways of value addition, like making jam and kambodscha. We're currently looking for helping hands who won't get bored of harvesting, de-seeing and packaging our hibiscus. An extra plus for us is if you love experimenting in the kitchen and trying out new ways of using our hibiscus love<3 If you have marketing skills, you're more than welcome in helping us promote our product, we're just starting.

    2) HELP WITH TRAINING OF OUR FOUR-LEGGED DARLINGS:
Maisha, Naledi , Shujaa (German shepherds) and Moana (Malionois) are the heart of our home. They're all below one year old, super lovely and quite excited to learn more about presentable manners;) All of them live in our compound freely, protect it at night and sleep a lot during the day. Some basic training has been done but as we had to leave our home for some weeks early this year, we need to catch up on some social behaviors and trainings.
If you are professional in dog training or quite experienced and are ready to dedicate some patience and love to them - you're the PERFECT MATCH!

    FARM:
We're currently setting up organic vegetable beds to try out different salads, vegetables and herbs for our own consumption. There's always a hand needed in building the raised beds from stone, planting new veggies or helping us weed and maintain our ganrdens. Get your hands dirty!<3

    COMMUNITY:
We're working closely with the community and hosting youth projects regularly in our compound. Any contribution towards the empowerment and growth of our youth is highly welcome.

We'd love you to know that we're looking meaningful, sustainable connections who leave a mark in this place. That's why we prefer workawayers coming for a minimum stay of 3 weeks, so that your Blue Moon stay becomes more than another tick on your travel list;)
