We are a young portuguese couple. Four years ago we decided to move from Oporto to the interior of Portugal. We recovered an old and beautiful family farm and we planted blueberries there. Last year we were hit by a big fire and we lost part of the farm and many blueberries. At this moment we need to recover what is possible and all the help is welcome.
Visiting our village is like a return to the past, is the deep Portugal where cultural habits and culture remain unchanged throughout the times.
Travelers will have the opportunity to contact with the locals during the harvest. They can also learn the techniques we use in manual blueberry harvesting.
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
We will need help at harvest time in the following tasks during 5 hours a day, 5 days a week:
- Picking fruits;
- Weighing, packaging and fruit selection;
- Weed control
- Other harvesting tasks.
