Description
Hi!
We are Hendrik and Simone and we live in the country close to Mellerud in Dalsland on a little old farm.
We don’t keep animals, except for our dogs and cat, and we would love to grow and preserve our own vegetables like we did some years ago but we haven’t gotten to it anymore.
We have started building tiny houses, both for here on the premises to rent out, and for others. It’s great to see the preparation of the groundwork, electrical and other things taking form, but we have other things going on as well. If you are interested in the subject we can share information with you, but you will not be working with the tiny house build or anything else that has to do with our business.
We would love to offer you an opportunity to live in Sweden for a while and get to know the culture. We can provide a place to stay and meals, in exchange for your much needed help in and around our private household, and help you having the time of your life here. We might throw in some Dutch or Frisian culture while we're at it!
We love that we live quite secluded, but just a ten minute drive from just about anything you would need. Trollhättan takes about a 45 minute drive and Norway is only 1,5 hours away. There’s also a train station in Mellerud.
There are so many things to explore and experience here!

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are able to give you advice on local activities and events.
We will try and let you participate in social activities we attend and introduce you to locals that share your interests.
We can teach you about life in Sweden as we experience it and give you tips in case you are considering moving to Sweden.
We speak Swedish, Dutch, English, Frisian, some German so if you would like to practice one of these languages or if you feel more comfortable speaking those please do.
We are looking forward to meeting people from different cultures and especially Simone would love to speak the different languages with you. We would also love to taste foreign dishes if cooking is something you'd like to do.
And as said before, all eating preferences or allergies are open for discussion.
Help
There’s always room for discussion, and some things depend on the season, so here’s some things we would love to have you help us with:
Maintenance of the garden.
Maybe some vegetable growing.
Pruning trees.
Getting logs out of the woods and splitting them into firewood.
Painting the barn.
Building a fence.
Cooking*.
Collecting plants.
Preserving food.
And you’re always welcome to walk a dog!
We will discuss if we do things together or not.
*Our son eats lots of protein and meat, our daughter is a vegan, we are somewhere in between, so we should be able to work things out wether you would be cooking or only eating with us.

I, Simone, love love love languages! I should be able to offer some coaching in the languages I am fluent in. I’m particularly fond of pronunciation and also believe I could be of help with that in any of those languages.
Accommodation
Depending on availability and/or your preferences we have a tiny house or a caravan for two persons each.
Both have a fridge so you can fix your own breakfast of preference.
We will discuss lunch and dinner.
For each meal you will either eat with us, get food from us or we will discuss a budget for you to spend on food.
Both the tiny house and the caravan provide privacy, and you will have access to a newly built service building with a bathroom and a utility room with a washing machine.
What else ...
We are pretty easy going, but we think it’s very important to have a good personal connection, and we do want to be able to discuss things in case of a misunderstanding or a mismatch. And we want you to feel comfortable discussing things with us as well.
I checked all the boxes green but when you contact us we can discuss dates and details. There might have been changes in availability.
We could get you from, or take you to, the train station in Mellerud occasionally, and we do have (not so amazing but still okay) bicycles you could borrow, but otherwise you would be a bit limited if you don’t bring your own means of transportation.
It’s probably most suitable for one or two people or couples to come and help us.
I’m not sure if we would be suitable for families with children.
We need to discuss pets in advance as we have a bunch of dogs, not all equally well behaved.
We are new to this so we are open to suggestions in case we missed something, so just let us know!
