Description
It is a California and Costa Rica non-profit focused on protecting natural land and water resources with programs based on stewardship of biological systems. We focus on enhancement of biodiversity with Analog Forestry, and do our best, in the process of these programs, to study and save endangered plants and animals in the Costa RIcan wilderness.
This is a group filled with conservationist, dedicated to preserving and strengthening earths biosphere. We help to run not only my own organization, but help the association which owns a majority of the land where we are located, who have approved many of our Team projects to be carried out on their land too. We hope to better continue our conservation projects here, and with your help, it could be better yet : ).
Activities include trips to see and research wildlife, planting trees, exploring the rainforest, visiting a few neighbors to see or participate in their projects, see our waterfalls and bath in the fresh waters, and of course go to the beach, which is 45 minutes away. There is a local town called San Isidro De Dota which does some agricultural export, with one fantastic restaurant, and a few local families living there, to which the community is very nice. They have a number of other volunteer opportunities too, and sometimes there's bingo monthly, if you're in to that.
How we interact here is a developing process. We're open to building community and what that entails. This place isn't for everyone, it's nice, but it is true countryside and comes with all it's own difficulties and lessons. The community is meant to be motivated to protect the environment comprehensively and nurture each other's progression along the way. We aim to treat each other with respect along the journey to a higher purpose.Types of help and learning opportunities

This is a 30 year old Analog Forestry project on Cerro Nara mountain that is one of Milo and Renil's first plans in Costa Rica. We've recently updated the plan and are planting more trees for a few years, however, there are more work intensive Permaculture projects on the south side of the mountain that are indefinitely operating. Here will transition to farmers market and anti-poaching over the next 3 years as trees grow. We are building an eco- community poco a poco (little by little) in Costa Rica, which will eventually be available to host people from 6 months to a year. We are well connected with other projects in the area and in Costa Rica in general and can offer transportation at a cost.Languages spoken

Large house with solar and hydro-electric, and a large capacity at 4 rooms and extra large room for sleeping. 5 separate dwellings are being built for workers in 2025, and more to come in the future. This means we are currently recommended to have around 12 people total, and at least 6.
For transportation, have several cars for transportation but sometimes need maintenance due to the rugged terrain, each with 4 seats and truck bed, so any help in gas money would be appreciated (not a requirement, however, if you are asking for a ride apart from regular trips, it is required).
For amenities, we are not currently taking responsibility for providing food, so you will need to get groceries at a local store. We provide transportation one to a few times a week to do so. There is a cost for toilet paper, cleaning supplies etc... that is shared among everyone who stays.
We have foam mattresses, covers, and pillows, however, you are welcome to bring a sleeping bag. What else ...
There are two paid Costa Rican caretakers spread across the 1000 acre property. They help volunteers. We have a few Weiner dogs that are meant for keeping rats away, and are occasionally brought to search the main house. There are some livestock with the caretakers. The main house is very private with a coastal view of Manuel Antonio which makes for extremely breathtaking sunsets, although since this is the rainforest, it's sometimes sunny everywhere else and a blanket of fog blocks the view. The mountain is a comfortable cooler 75 degrees Fahrenheit. There is a degree of danger from some animals in the wilderness, as this is the countryside and you will need to provide your own insurance if you plan to do any hiking, to which our lawyer will fill you in on the details.
