Description
We are an English-American couple living in Monaco for 25 years with 3 teenagers (one in university in Florence) and a medeival mill in the country 30 minutes away. My husband is English and has a property renovation company working for foreigners on the coast who need help in overseeing the renovation of their villas, thus we often don't have time for our own home! We have 4 dogs (Golden and 3 Shephard mix), 2 cats and fish in a series of ponds which used to be used to separate the oil, and a large garden where we have started a vegetable garden which we would like to expand. The mill is on the Paillon river with a large garden that needs some creative input. The main house is almost done and there is a small guest house of 45m2 which has been renovated years ago and needs another touch up.

L'Escarène is in a beautiful mountain area along the Salt Route to Turino in the 1200's. There is wonderful hiking and cycling and skiing not far. The Riviera is only 45 minutes away, connected by train or bus. The village is still very authentically French as all the foreigners have settled along the coast and the back country of Nice is not deemed "chic", so it has changed very little over the centuries. They would have ample occasion to practice their French, sightsee the Rivera coast and Maritime Alps and Italy.

Help
We need a person or couple to look after and love the animals, this is the main priority. Second priority is to help in the garden, especially the vegetable garden which we want to expand and cultivate all year. If the person or couple is so inclined, there is also painting and other DYI work to be done, but this is not at all mandatory.

Accommodation
Separate house of 45 m2 with salon, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.This house is across a patio from the main house so it is easy to oversee it when we are not there. We can also provide food.
What else ...
There is a bus line to Nice which is then connected to the entire coast. There is also a train station, but about a 20 minute walk; biking is very practiced in the area, Professional bikers train on the roads and the Paris Nice bike race passed our house last year. Hiking can be done walking out the front door. Skiing is only a little over an hour away, again, well served by the public buses. The village is a short walk away, the community centered around the church, bar and boulangerie. The people are friendly (for the French!) and it would be a good place to polish up on the language. The mountain villages nearby are Berre les Alpes, Lucéram, Piera-Cava; the mountain scenery is breaktaking! Italy is very close also. There are many museums in Nice and along the entire coast. It is easy to meet other foreigners in Monaco or pubs or restaurants along the coast.
