  • Description

We are mother and daughter (51yrs and 18yrs) from Denmark who in May 2019 bought a piece of land (3500sqm) in the Wineyard area just outside Nagypeterd - Baranya, Hungary.

It's VERY remote and there's around 4km to the nearest bar/restaurant in Nagypeterd, so please embrase yourself for a country life experience.

The land has an ochard with several fruit trees, among which we find sour cherries, pears, red and green apples, and plums. There are also three plots with rows of red and white grapes and a vegetable plot.

Our vision for the place is to reform the lower orchard plot (1500sqm) to a place where you can walk through to expand your smell, touch and sight by making a garden with herbs, flowers, water, and 3-4 small two-person shelters for overnight stays. One of the plots with wine will be transformed to a garden with a greenhouse and more exotic trees for self-sufficiency and hopefully a few beehives.

We are into organic and permaculture, so any skills in that direction is more than welcome :-)

PLEASE make sure to read the whole description before contacting us. Thanks in advance.

The feeling of building something up from scratch is wonderful, and we would love to share this experience with you. So if you're up for a challenge and a hard worker, this might be the place for you.

We are still new to Hungary, but will love to go exploring the nearby surroundings with you!

We have a lot of fishing gear which needs some serious clearing up, but we know there are a few nice fishing lakes around, so this would be great if you're into fishing - btw, we also have a smoker where you can experiment with smoked fish ;)

To be totally honest, there's a lot of work and even more to come...

Our wines are overgrown since we haven't had time to care for them in the few weeks we've been on the land, the fruit trees need serious pruning and some to be cut down, the grass is growing faster than we can keep up with, and we have a termite problem in our 3 lovely walnut trees which we are trying to get rid of ASAP... else we have to get rid of those trees as well :(

The house needs a loving touch but we haven't quite figured out where to start on that yet.... (sight).

We have the tools needed for the tasks, but in lack of manpower and skills :-o So if this sounds like a project you could be interested in helping with, we would be more than happy to hear from you!

Please note, we have a plan and vision for the place but we don't have everything scheduled out, so if you need a timeframe for your day-to-day life to function, we are not the right place for you.

  • Accommodation

Accommodation is small and quite basic... think primitive. But with your help, we hope it won't stay so for long :-)

There's a small winehouse with 2 rooms - one is functioning as the kitchen and the other as a living room with a couch for 1 person to sleep. However, we prefer to give accommodation in our cotton tent, because the house is yet to be renovated. A private sleeping cabin with mattress will be provided for you in the spacious tent.
Or if you would like, there’s also the possibility if sleeping in a hammock.

The toilet is a camping toilet at the moment, and the shower is a washbowl in the garden. Not fancy, but functionable. For the shower, please note that we only accept organic/natural soap since all the water goes back to the ground and we are striving to be a chemical-free place. If you don't have any yourself we'll be happy to provide soap.

In exchange for 4-5hrs work a day, we will provide breakfast, a small snack in-between meals, and lunch. We are NOT able to host vegetarians or vegans since our diet contains both meat (limited, but never pork) and dairy products.

P.S. There's Wifi, but since it's slow and limited it's best to check mails and so on before 6am.
