We are looking for help running our tourist businesses in the idyllic little surf/fishing village of Mompiche, right on the Pacific coast of Esmeraldas Province (think GREEN & TROPICAL). Our tribe consists of Amy-- a tropical conservation biologist from California, Morongo-- one of Mompiche's finest surfers and unforgettable characters, and our full throttle bilingual kids Kai, Kingston, and Reef (8, 5, and 3 years old). Amy and the three tiny lunatics have relocated to California and are managing the online side of our family business from there - Morongo is running everything on the ground in Mompiche. Thank god for our incredible volunteers! In typical Ecuadorian style, we tend to have a very hard time planning months (or sometimes weeks!) ahead with respect to volunteer scheduling... the main reason for this is because we like to keep things open-ended in terms of volunteer departure dates (after the 3 week minimum). We would LOVE to hear from you if you are looking for something to do in the next 1-3 weeks, and should be able to provide definitive answers that way.

Help with Computers / internet
Mompiche has somehow miraculously managed to hold tight to its Afro-ecuadorian and fishing culture roots despite a lot more attention in recent years from tourism. Generally speaking, we get an uber global crowd of conscientious travelers and people in town behave pretty much as they always have - this is a great opportunity to observe unadulterated Ecuadorian coastal culture in a village that proudly wears its "isolated paradise" status like it wants to stay that way forever.
Pretty much all of the time, we are looking for help with the following:
1. Everyday operations for the bungalow rentals: We are in need of folks that can help us to keep guests happy. This means check-in and check-out, making sure water tanks are refilled, and just generally being "around" to help with their requests.
2. Construction, labor, and random projects : We always have a handful of both improvement and maintenance projects going simultaneously and would LOVE to get some extra help for these! Volunteers with carpentry, plumbing, electric, any fix-it skills are super duper welcome. The tropics are brutal on properties so it is a constant labor of love.
3. Refreshing our marketing: new photos of our listings, new social media content, strategic "directing" of web traffic, etc... if you are computer saavy or a photography genius, please let us know!

We will put you up in a bungalow or cabana very close to the ocean and provide you with the essentials for cooking your own food. Fresh seafood & tropical fruit are easy to come by in Mompiche, and simplicity is the name of the game. Accommodations are rustic but the setting is great and so is the vibe - think Swiss Family Robinson ;)
We ask for 5 hours of some sort of helpful activity per day but are flexible in terms of how you want to divvy it up. The only thing that is rigid schedule-wise is check-in dynamics. Once everyone is settled in and happy work can be very flexible. In general, when there are waves, all bets are off in Mompiche-- we just cover each other's backs to be able to enjoy the swell while it lasts!
Our family is pretty well set-up in terms of Mompiche standards-- we have reliable wifi that you can access from the spot with the best view of the point in town, and Morongo knows the area like nobody's business.
Mompiche tends to be hyper-appealing to nature lovers and folks looking for an authentic cultural experience, and usually boring (with the occasional exception) to folks looking for a party scene. Locals are super friendly/inclusive and if you are interested in learning more about fishing, surfing, or the jungle, Mompiche is a no-brainer. Self-starters will be in heaven here with us; if you need more constant guidance from a volunteer program, you may feel a little lost. What else can we tell you? Feel free to send questions!
