Description
I am a Horticulturist and a practitioner of Self-Sustainable living on my two acres land for 30 years. A founder and organizer of garden tour since 1997, I taught cooking and baking for many years.
In order to provide my large gardens for fund raising by non profit organizations, for demonstrating environmental sound living practices , and for being self- sufficiency,I couldn't do it all but I need help from like-minded people.
There are three small buildings on my property, Tree house, Cob house and the Meditation house, they are all built with local wood and are the accommodations for workawayers and woofers.
The descriptions of the buildings are as follow:
1) Treehouse, has a double bed, and a deck with ocean and garden views.
2) Meditation house has 4 bunk beds . The larger deck allows yoga practice. It is located in a small forested area with a creek running below.
3) Cob house, is made from clay, sand and cedar chips, timber framed with local fir.
A washroom with shower, toilet, and a heated tile floor adjacent to it, And is shared with other helpers.
Under the large covered grape arbor is the outdoor kitchen and dinning areas, It provides excellent WiFi.
Schedule: 9am to 1pm. 5 days a week. schedule can be flexible.
Help consists : Weeding, planting, transplanting, pruning, mulching, compost making, housekeeping, general maintenance.
Due to diet preferences among helpers, I will prepare either dinner or lunch and you can create your own particular food and I will supply you with the materials.
One month minimum stay is required , longer stay can be arranged'

I have lived in Canada for about 50 years, I can speak English fluently. If anyone wants to learn Mandarin Chinese which is my mother language, I can also teach Classical Chinese writing. I have taught Chinese to a doctor, a student, and a woofer privately. And also taught in night school.
When you are here, you will be immersed in Canadian Culture.
As for myself, I am very interested in learning your cultures.Help
1) Soil preparation and compost making.
2) Propagation by seeds, and division.
3)Pruning Hydrangea, Roses, Boxwood, and Laurel edge.
4) Mowing a grass mixed with clover lawn. The clippings are for mulching and composting.
5) Bonsai watering.
6) Building fence with bamboo which were harvested from my garden.
7) Picking and drying herbs and flowers for tea.
8) Making jam and juice from grapes, drying pears and apples in Fall. Caning and freezing vegetables and fruits in Fall.
9) Pruning grape vines and fruit trees in Fall season.
You will learn all the above listed skills, if you have stayed long enough.(I had a woofer and two workawayers who stayed for 10 months.)
It would be great if you know how to build small wooden structures, such as arbor, trellis, and gate to protect plants from deer.Languages

There are all separate buildings:
1) Treehouse has a double bed. And a deck that has a view from ocean and garden.
2) Cob house has a single bed, with the washroom facility, it is next to the large outdoor kitchen and eating area.
3) Meditation hut has bunk beds, It sits on a slop at the other side of the creek. The wooden bridge over the creek is built by two carpenter friends with lumbers cut from Their own logs. Giant Canadian maple, Red Cedar and native Saw ferns spread around the hut.
All accommodations have electricity and WiFi. Portable heater available. What else ...
During the weekend you can take a bus to Lund - the northern part of Powell River and the end of high way 101 from South America. It has the famous Nancy's Cafe, Board Walk restaurant, Lund hotel, a gallery, and boats anchored in the harbour. The water taxi runs regularly to the well known Savary Island, where it is known for the large white sandy beach, and beautiful homes and cottages nestled in woods. You can also rent a kayak to the fairy tale like Copland Islands, and breath taking Desolation Sound.
Or you can take a ferry to Vancouver Island, while crossing the ocean you may see Dolphin, Humpback or Orca swim by.
Every year in Summer we have world second largest Loggers Sports Day(The largest one is in Australia.) and if you are music lover, we have annual PRISMA event in June. The following month the international coral competition.
If you are here at the end of Summer or Fall, you can watch salmon running up the creek at the Salmon Hatchery, and black bears are catching them.
There are many lakes, forest trails you can explore. The most famous "Sunshine Coast Trail", will take you about 10 day to complete. Huts are available along the trails, free of charge.
Public beaches spread North to south, the nearest one in town has music stand, public washrooms, and a hut sells hamburger and fry. A mini golf course serves delicious ice cream. You can choose either swim or lie on lawn under the large cedar and
fir trees.
If you are a rock climber, we have outdoor and indoor places you can go.
There are good cafes and restaurants near by. An evening walk along the SEA WALK you will see fantastic sunset over snow caped Vancouver Island mountain range. Texada and Harwood Islands are framing two sides of our town.. Ferries every day to Texada and Vancouver Island, And another ferry will take you to the city of Vancouver.
Last, We have the best weather in Canada.
I encourage you to ask me as many questions as you may have.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
