    Description

We are Victoria and Graeme. Originally from the uk but now living in Cantabria, Spain. After being workawayers, travelling, living and working abroad for over 10 years, we have settled down with our cat Bella and moved into a rural farm in the mountains of the Picos de Europa. We are looking for fun and easy going people to help with gardening, DIY, cleaning and whatever jobs crop up around the house. We are both laid back with artistic backgrounds. Victoria being a drama teacher, singer, actress and writer. Graeme a music and English teacher, with an interest in art and wood carving. We both enjoy the outdoors and fitness. Victoria is currently studying to be a yoga teacher and is an avid gym goer. Graeme is a triathlon coach, trail and ultra-distance runner, and DofE coordinator and coach. We have recently moved to Spain to restore our new home after 8 years living in China. The house is situated in a tiny hamlet a few km from the town of Potes. We are surrounded by lush forests and snowy capped mountains. Peace and tranquility is our environment. We are both vegetarian so all food we prepare is non meat and we can provide vegan options for volunteers if they prefer. We are also non-smokers and would prefer volunteers not to smoke around the property. Please get in touch if you have any questions. Thanks

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are very happy to share skills and experience. We spend a lot of time outdoors, hiking, visiting sites or going to the beach. Volunteers are welcome to join us. We are both teachers and are happy to help with English language skills as well as share artistic ideas and knowledge. We look forward to meeting people from all backgrounds to share their ideas of the world, culture, food, music and more. We love travelling and experiencing new cultures so hosting a variety of people feels like traveling at home (if that makes sense). We look forward to hearing your stories

  • Help

    Help

We are looking for volunteers with a variety of skills but don’t expect anyone to do work they feel uncomfortable with. We have a large garden in which we plan to start crowing our own vegetables, help with preparation and planting is needed. we also have a large amount of barns and space that need a good clear out and a bit of TLC. keeping on top of the daily tasks such as cooking, cleaning and looking after the house is also a big task, so help with these is also required. We are very willing to pass on skills and experience to volunteers who are willing to learn. Enthusiasm, patience and an open mind is all we ask for.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We are a rural property with no direct bus into the village. Public transport can be found at the next village which is about a 2km walk. We can provide lifts for volunteers to the town and local area when convenient. We are also willing to pick volunteers up from train or bus stations nearby and drop them off at the end of their stay. If you have your own vehicle then we have parking available. We also have some bikes that can be used, we do live up a hill from the town though so a degree of fitness is needed . The local town of Potes is a bustling and historic tourist town and the local area is full of hiking and cycling routes.
