    Description

We live as a multi-generational family on a lifestyle property nestled in the hills of Te Puna in the sunny Bay of Plenty. We are 10 minutes from the local shopping center and 20 minutes from Mount Maunganui. There are two dwellings on the property.
We have 6 acres of property. About half the property is planted in gardens and the other half is in paddocks. There are a lot of mature plantings which need pruning and maintaining, there are several areas under development that need mulching and weeding and there is a food forest that is still being developed and requires some planting and maintenance. We have a small hobby flower farm where we grow mainly dahlias with a mixture of annuals and perennials to complement. We don't use any chemical inputs, we make out own compost and try to keep our footprint as small as possible. We sell some flowers directly to local florists in the summer to generate a small income for the property to supplement the cost of new plants. Over the winter months there is a lot of general maintenance work, and not so much opportunity for insta content.

The property is very peaceful and calming. There are two streams that bound the property on two sides. There is a large flat lawn for Tai chi or yoga.
One of our family members has recently broken her elbow and is out of action for several months so we are looking for someone to help out with the general gardening work.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are a very low impact farm, we try to be as gentle as possible with our interaction with the land. We don't dig or use machinery unless absolutely necessary. We produce a lot of our own food in our food forest and have a closed loop philosophy where possible.

    Help

We are looking for someone physically fit as most of the work involves garden labour. The work involves a lot of shoveling mulch, digging holes, turning compost, pushing wheelbarrows and hauling tree prunings. You don't need to be super strong, but ideally you are already doing this type of work and your fitness is good.
