Description
Hey, my name is Vincenzo, i’m 45 and I'm passionate about nature and creating spaces where queer individuals can thrive, connect, and celebrate their unique identities. As a dancer, choreographer, and lover of all things creative, I've spent years honing my craft and exploring the world. After many years of dreaming and planning, I have recently bought a piece of land in the south-east of Sicily.
Inspired by the radical faerie spirit, I'm creating a safe haven where queer individuals of all ages and backgrounds can come together, share stories and knowledge; celebrating nature and the beauty of diversity.
Together, we will honour our queerness, explore our spirituality, and co-create a space where all are welcome and celebrated. This will include hosting workshops, retreats, and gatherings that allow us to delve deeper into our shared passions and interests.
Creating a queer space in Sicily, smack in the middle of the Mediterranean, is a big deal. Here, like in other places, traditional values often clash with the LGBTQ+ community’s quest for acceptance and visibility. By carving out a space where being queer isn't just okay but celebrated, we're shaking things up and paving the way for more acceptance and love.
The idea is to create a space that operates outside of commercial, capitalist and heteronormative logics.
We are just starting with this adventure, so as a volunteer you'll play a crucial role in shaping the future of our community.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
I like to share my skills on gardening, landscape design, building stuff, cooking, dance. So if you have no experience there is no shame and I'm happy to teach you. I also like to learn your skills.
The whole idea is to create a space were queers come together to share practices, experiences and knowledge. No shame, No judgment

Our current infrastructure is minimal, to say the least – there is no house yet and all activities are outdoor.
We will cook together in the outdoor kitchen, I am not vegan but if you are or have other food restrictions we will find solutions.
I have set up a Bell tent with comfortable beds to host volunteers but you also have the option to bring your own camping equipment for more privacy.
for the rest, think compost toilets and bucket showers.
So, if you're comfortable roughing it a bit and don't mind getting your hands dirty, you'll fit right in!What else ...
The land is located in the south-east of Sicily near by the small town of Canicattini Bagni. The property is nestled on a hill top framed by two deep valleys and immersed in luscious and wild landscape. You can admire and contemplate the breathtaking views to the surrounding valleys, the top of mount Etna and the see.
We are near by 3 natural reserves: Cavagrande del Cassibile, Pantalica and Vendicari; and the cities of Siracusa and Noto.
The beach is at 30 min drive.
Of course you would be much more independent if you have your own means of transportation but if not there is a lot of interesting Hikes to do around the land. I'm also happy to accompany you to some of those places.
To reach it by public transport you should reach the town of Canicattini Bagni from where I'll pick you up.
The closest airport is Catania and the closest train station is Siracusa.
there are few direct busses from the airport to Canicattini Bagni operated by the Bus company AST
If not you have every 30 Min an INTERBUS Bus from the airport to Siracusa and there you should take an other Bus to Canicattini Bagni.A little more information
