    Description

    Hi everyone,

I'm Veronica, and my family and I would love to host a foreign visitor in our home here in Bormio, where we live.

Bormio is about 3 hours from Milan and is a beautiful town nestled in the mountains. I've lived here for about 15 years, and every morning when I wake up, I choose to live in this wonderful place.

To truly appreciate life in Bormio, I believe you need to be someone who loves simple things and tranquility. We live far from big cities, nightlife, and shopping centers. However, stepping out of our front door means immersing ourselves in nature and practicing an endless array of sports. That's what I love about the place I've chosen to live with my family.

In winter, you can indulge in all kinds of snow sports: alpine skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, and ski mountaineering. In summer, it's a paradise for cycling, both road and mountain biking, and for trekking. Bormio is also ideal for rejuvenation with its warm thermal waters and beautiful historic center. Last but not least, remember we're in Italy, so wherever you go, the food is super!

Speaking of our family, we generally have quite busy schedules during the week because both my partner and I work full-time. Simone has his own company about 30 km from Bormio, so he leaves early in the morning and returns for dinner.

I, on the other hand, work just a short walk from home in the tourism sector. It's a demanding job in many ways, but one I adore. Even though it requires a lot of commitment in terms of hours, I'm usually always home for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. These are the moments I love to share with Emma and Luca, our two children.

Emma is a 14-year-old girl who loves alpine skiing. For a few years now, she's been competing, and besides school, her focus is on training as best as she can, both on skis and athletically. In her free time, she enjoys reading and soaking up the peace and quiet. Usually, on weekends when she doesn't have competitions, we plan to do something sporty together. She adores her dad, so when he's available, she also loves to do sports with him!

Luca, on the other hand, is 12 years old and a very active boy. In winter, he practices alpine skiing and freestyle skiing, while in summer, he does downhill MTB as part of a team. In his free time, he likes to go out with his friends and play or do sports with them. With him too, whenever possible, we try to arrange to be outdoors together doing one of the many sports we love.

At home, we try to help each other out. Especially with the kids, and compatible with school, we divide up small chores like cooking, tidying the kitchen, taking out the trash, hanging laundry, grocery shopping, etc.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We hope that hosting foreign visitors will primarily give our children the opportunity to learn English well by using it in real-life communication on an ongoing basis.

Additionally, living in a small town, it's a wonderful chance to encourage our family to have cultural exchanges with people from other countries.

In Bormio, there are events organized by the local community that we can suggest participating in as volunteers, allowing you to feel like part of the community. Also, in February 2026, we'll be hosting the Winter Olympic Games, so if you're interested, we can help you apply to be a volunteer.

We're hoping to find a young man or woman from abroad who is eager to fully immerse themselves in our family life and offer a little support with daily tasks.

First and foremost, we'd love someone who genuinely wants to connect with our family. This gives us the fantastic opportunity to meet people from a different culture and, crucially, to speak English. Our main goal is to improve our English language skills through conversation, especially during shared moments with our children, but also with us adults.

Additionally, we'd appreciate it if you could spend a few hours with our kids, helping them with household chores or homework while speaking to them in English. One of our fundamental goals is to give them the chance to improve their English language skills. They're quite independent now, so they don't need constant supervision, but rather someone to accompany and assist them with the activities they typically do when they don't have other commitments, even encouraging them to stay away from their phones!

The person we host will also be asked to help with household duties, alternating with other family members, with the following tasks:

Tidying and cleaning their own room and bathroom.
Cooking for the whole family on designated days.
Helping with small chores (setting and clearing the table, vacuuming, emptying the dishwasher, hanging and folding laundry, taking out the trash, grocery shopping, etc.).
