Description
Come stay with us!!! We are a family of three on Denman Island: Hunter is 7 (and the first Canadian-born person in the family), Sean is 38 (originally from South Africa) and I am Claudia (43 and originally from Germany). We moved here six weeks ago into a big log house that was built to be a B&B in the late 70s/early 80s. The house has a rugged, retro charm and an incredible view. Our property is just under 2 acres and includes beach front, a rustic garden and old growth trees. There is lots to be done and there is no better place to do it than Denman Island with its incredible fauna and flora and artsy, friendly and distinctively quirky community. The Hornby Island ferry is a 10 minute walk from the house and Hornby Island is home to world class sand beaches. We are looking for some help with clean-up of the property: Some yard work (getting the overgrown garden back into shape, remove underbrush etc.), clean-up (the previous owner's stuff in the garage needs to be emptied) and perhaps the occasional child minding and perhaps fort/tree-house-building :-) We are looking for a couple or a couple of friends.

Denman Island is a very special Gulf Island. Its residents are socially and environmentally conscious and very invested in arts and culture. The community is home to many artists and entrepreneurs. There is no shortage of activities and events, from sports, to games, theater, writing clubs, music, and alternative retreats. People are friendly, gracious, and well-coming. Life moves slower here as people take time for friends and family and to enjoy the beauty of where they live.

Help
We are looking for some help with clean-up of the property: Some yard work (getting the overgrown garden back into shape, remove underbrush etc.), clean-up (the previous owner's stuff in the garage needs to be emptied so we can set up a home business) and perhaps the occasional child minding and perhaps fort/tree-house-building :-)

Accommodation
We have a big room that can accommodate two queen beds with room to spare. The room is a northeast-facing ocean view room and looks out to Hornby Island. There are a sink and a toilet in the room. A shower is available outside, and/or in the master bedroom, and/or in the garage/studio. We also have a beautiful spot right off the beach if someone want to stay in our tent (Full stand-up cabin tent that can accommodate two Queen air mattresses with tons of room to spare.
What else ...
There is no public transport on Denman Island. Typically people drive, walk, bike, or hitchhike. We do have three bicycles, two of which may need some TLC (if we don't get to them before you get here). We are happy to make some arrangements with the car and/or provide ride(s). As per above, there is not a shortage of activities on Denman Island. It is a nature and art lovers paradise filled with people that love to meet new people and spend time with them.
