We are Joel (35), Poppy (36), Madeleine (11), Solomon (8) and Abel (1) and we live on a 12 acre property just 15 min north of Launceston, Tasmania. We have beautiful established gardens and our own European forest, extensive greenhouses, market garden and abundant orchard. Work includes gardening, mulching, weeding, watering, planting, general plant care, harvesting, greenhouse work, propagation and more.
We have a strong focus on self-sufficiency, growing and preserving our own produce, and cook and eat communally. A great opportunity to learn all about growing edible produce and general horticulture, and cooking and preserving what's grown on the property. Accommodation for 2 in a private detached room near our house - it has a toilet and basin but the shower is in our house. Shared meals, all cook together. Children welcome, no smoking.
Our family looks forward to welcoming you!
We have a young plant nursery and would love your help with weeding, mulching, landscaping and working in our extensive market garden and orchard.
We have a standalone one-room dwelling with toilet and basin near to our house that offers privacy - the shower is in our house. There is a hammock and lots of garden to walk through and relax in.
There is a bus that goes from town to our property (not a frequent service), but own transport is definitely preferable if you want to be able to see the sights and have some autonomy. Our property is located in the beautiful Tamar Valley - there is plenty to see and do around Launceston. Don't miss Cataract Gorge! And if you like wine, there are lots of amazing vineyards to visit. On Saturday morning, the award-winning Harvest Launceston Community Farmers' Market is held in town and is a great way to experience all the amazing produce that this region has to offer.
