    Description

Coucou! We are Clement (french, 27 years old) and Giorgia (italian, 30 years old). since the moment we saw lacaze we fall in love with the village and we decided to start our project here :) When we bought our land (3500 mq) there was an old barn, a ruin and nothing else!!!! we start to build a little chalet (20mq) in order to live during the bigger works (the barn is 150mq x 2 floors but in good shape and the ruin is a wreck XD) .

the final goal is to build up an artistic residence (to create installation, events, workshop and research that can be used in our community).
We are currently researching as well new sustainable ways that can improve life in rural places:
    1. construction techniques that improve artisanal" know-how", local materials that will improve local economy,
    2. perennial cultures and agroforestry design that can sustain with food, materials, erosion prevention, etc
    3. application of rigenerative agricolture (beyond BIO, that focus on the health of the soil and his microbiome more than the cultures itself)

we are still at the very beginning of our project (we are about to finish our chalet, we have a polytunnel in which we have grown our first plants). and we have inaugurated our first garden!
we would be happy to host active and propositive people which are whiling to learn, exchange but mostly that are moved from our same values!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

with us: You will learn about traditional and artesanal construction, new techniques in regenerative agricolture (we also have a little library which you can consult from time to time to get inspired! :) we would like to share with you skills and mindset that could give you more freewill, creative solutions and purpose.
before settling in here we used to travel around (to work or volunteer like you!) we miss a little bit to meet new people, new cultures, new languages... we would like to find out with your stay here your story, colture, knowledge and spirit to keep travelling and discovering the world even if we stay here!

in Lacaze: in your days off or resting time: there is a beautiful castle to see (with cool artistic exposition inside) , many hiking trails and a little river where you can pluff! in 20 minutes by car you can reach lakes, rivers and cooler hiking trails (enfant sauvage, sidobre etc..) sometimes there are events in our deconsecrated temple or around with friends, you are welcome to come with us if willing!)

Workawayers will be always accompanied by us and can chose to enrol in the activities they like the most between:

    1. botanical/regenerative agricolture
plants basic maintenance (watering, repotting, weeding etc) until we will set the irrigation system watering is taking a bit of time. we would like as well to finalise a keyline design and to apply it before autumn. at the end of the summer we will plant trees and shrubs which are growing now our greenhouse (we are focusing on creating edges now)

    2.Artesanal construction:
finish the outside of the chalet, you'll see and learn about bardeaux application (they are made locally) and a touch of carpentry with the construction of our pergola.
then you might be curious about our "green" (or vegetated) roof: we'll apply the substrate (different types of sedum) and some slates at the end.
we will also build our first masonry stove (it's the smaller we've found on internet)

possibles workshops that might be scheduled this summer:
    1. in traditional carpentry: wood tracing and axe squaring (équarrissage à la hache)
    2. dry stone wall building with a professional
    3. microorganismes cultivation and tea compost

the responsibility and complexity of the tasks will vary depending on the knowledge, skills, and motivation to learn of the workawayer :)

if people are willing, there is also space for camping with tends, but please let us know as soon as possible so we can prepare the placement.
there is a compost toilet and an outside shower that you can use. of course in rainy days (or if necessary in general) you can use our personal bathroom in the chalet (we dispose also of a compost toilet)
we did organise a "summer" kitchen in the barn with also tables to eat inside in case of rain and we are currently eating there, however once finished the kitchen in the chalet you will be invited to eat there with us :)

you will receive 3 meals a day
