Description
We are a family who own a property inside a reservation in the Rio de la Plata Delta. We really enjoy sharing with other people —experiences and stories, languages, our home and our food. We live in and offer sustainable lodgings. The island is part of the Delta del Paraná Biosphere Reservation (in Spanish, Reserva de la Biosfera del Delta del Paraná). The property is surrounded by a natural environment made up of native forests, creeks, and rivers. Our goal and mission is to preserve the area’s indigenous animals and vegetation as much as possible. We are currently growing native plants and trees. Most of the materials used in the construction of our houses are what the island naturally offers (mud, thatch, wood and bamboo) and recycled materials (reused wood and tin sheets, plastic bottles). The main idea of the project is to try to lead a more natural life, one that is more connected and in harmony with the environment and share it with others. There will be plenty of time to enjoy the natural surroundings, watch the birds and animals, go fishing, canoeing or kayaking. This project was born in November 2012, and we have since received a great number of volunteers. The minimum stay for volunteers is 4 weeks. We gladly invite anyone who is willing to be a part of this wonderful experience!

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We love sharing culture and travel experiences. We have travelled a lot around Argentina, South America and Europe so we have some knowledge and can recommend places to travel to. We speak English and some French. People usually want to learn or improve their Spanish and we love to help them in this project. We love to share with volunteers about everything that has to do with our eco-friendly project and the Parana Delta Reservation, the indigenous plants and animals, the people leaving on the islands, the place's history... It is a very special and interesting place to get to know.
Help
We need volunteers to help us maintain the place with tasks such as: the general maintenance of the natural constructions (like painting and repairing) and building new ones using green construction techniques, getting firewood, starting the fires for cooking or showering, working in the organic garden, removing exotic plants and trees and planting native ones, maintaining or opening new paths in the woods, and keeping the boats, canoes and kayaks clean and dry.

We speak some English. We love to share Spanish. Yporá is a great place to learn or improve your "Argentinian Spanish".Accommodation
When not offered to paying guests or family visits, we have a large mud house were volunteers can stay. It uses solar energy, it has a wood-burning stove that can be used to warm up the place and has hot and cold water. It has a few beds, a kitchen and a bathroom.
We also have a volunteer's glamping-style tent with a double bed. It is close to the river and well within the natural forest. We need volunteers to bring a sleeping bag, and a head torch and rain boots if possible.
We take food preferences and needs into account. All meals are included. We usually take turns to cook / wash dishes, as we do with all tasks. Volunteers are free to cook by themselves and use the kitchen when needed. What else ...
In your free time you may go canoeing or kayaking using our boats in streams and rivers in the area, or sailing with us, watching the birds and other animals, go swimming or fishing and enjoy nature in general.

Can host families
Can host digital nomads
Yes, we can host digital nomads. Right now, we don't have Wi-Fi or a relayable Internet connection. You can use a Personal (local cellphone company) SIM card, but some days it can be difficult or even impossible to get service.
Can possibly accept pets
Since it is a reservation, we need to talk about coming with pets because of how they might interact with the wild animals.
