Description
Hi! My name is Michele and I’m originally from Milan. I spent a few years in the Netherlands and Belgium doing a PhD. I’ve now returned to Italy to work as a researcher at an Italian university. A couple of years ago, I bought a lovely little summer house on top of a hill, between Sestri Levante and Lavagna, and I need some help clearing the overgrown garden and doing a bit of odd tasks round the house (fitting a door, taking stuff to the dump, etc.). More than anything, I’d like us to enjoy the summer together, not just do tasks! The sea is half an hour away, and there’s a river and woodland walks right on my doorstep. I think the house is well worth enjoying too, so I’ll let the photos speak for themselves!

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
I’ve lived abroad for many years and speak English well. Besides doing tasks together, I’m down to enjoy the holiday with you – so we can go to the beach, the river, go for walks, and above all visit Italian ‘sagre’, where you can find local food (in this case, Ligurian) at very low prices and of excellent quality. In summer, there’s one almost every day! I also have a few musical instruments at home (I play the piano and a little bit of guitar/ukulele). Neighbours are present mostly in July-August. They're internationals as well. So a small Italian village quite an international standing!

Help
Here are the things I’d like to do:
- clear a small patch of land (about 30 square metres) and level it out (not essential, but a big plus!);
- fit a door (inside the house);
- if we have the time and energy, clear out two cellars and take the rubbish to the tip.

Accommodation
I can accommodate up to two people, who will sleep in a bunk bed in a separate room. The room is located between my bedroom and the stairs leading downstairs. There is currently no door between my room and yours, but we will buy and fit one together.
We will share breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and drinks together throughout the stay at my place. If I am not able to cook the kitchen and food in there will be at your disposal. Water from the tap is drinkable.
What else ...
The closest bus stop is 2km downhill. Hence, you'll need a car. I do have a car and I'm open to pick you up at Chiavari station. From time to time I may allow you using my car (but we'll see about that).
