Description
Hello,
Our family place is great for laid-back people, enjoying calm and nature, although the house is a bit old and it offers only basic comfort. Only two kilometers from the sea, but if you want to go to a city using public transportation, you'll need to be patient!
Quiet place, large garden, with apple trees, pear trees, plum trees, strawberries, brambles, stinging nettles and two hens gathering around. Lot of mint, lots of wild grass :-)
My two teenaged boys stay with me every other weekend and half of the holidays. They learn basic English and basic Spanish at school... One used to play the trumpet, the other plays the electric guitar.
We like kayaking, paddling, surfing (bodyboard), rock climbing, playing on the beach... and also playing board games and reading a lot, especially in winter.
We try to reduce our impact on the environment, but still have to make compromise.
I worked one year in the UK (foreign language assistant), and one year in Guinea (solidarity project), also a few weeks in Germany and Bulgaria. Always preferred working abroad than visiting as a tourist, so i think the Workaway program is a great idea. I sometimes leave my home to go "workaway" myself!
We already hosted people from Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Australia, the US and the Netherlands... and it's great!
I'm now a 48-year-old primary school teacher, with not so many opportunities for long-lasting stays abroad. It's good for us to exchange with people from elsewhere, it helps my kids to feel as being citizens of the world!
Part of the team which launched a local currency (October 2016), in order to promote local trade, organic food, and to communicate about economics issues. (project similar to Bristol Pound, or Chiemgauer... at a smaller scale).
I usually don't plan things much in advance, and I'm happy to adapt to friends' wishes or as the weather changes ...
Oh, we would love to host someone who can teach us how to use an electronic keyboard !!
We get many messages which are "copy and paste" sent to many places, I can understand it, but please read our whole page to check if it suits you!
If you really intend to come here, please let me know in your message the dates and the way you travel.Types of help and learning opportunities

You will have a good opportunity to discover a simple lifestyle in Brittany. We are close to the seaside and also close to the town of Morlaix. Many outdoor activities are possible.
You'll learn proper French language (including slang if you wish)
We enjoy cultural exchanges, we can also exchange about ecological ways of gardening.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
We would like to improve our LANGUAGE SKILLS (I can speak English, little German, little Spanish).
I would like you to boost my kids' interest for foreign languages...
Help needed in the GARDEN if you want to; I always need advice in that field (as in many others)
If you like COOKING, it could be really great !
Tasks could be : (choose and tell us what you prefer, we'll mainly do it together!)
- using the trimmer or the scythe to cut the high grass "savanna" (partly done)
- weeding around fruit trees (partly done)
- sometimes preparing the meals we'll have together
- building a small shelter to keep hay dry
- teaching us to play electronic keyboard, painting, yoga...
- repairing the old greenhouse
...
Otherwise, I really enjoy spending time with our visitors if you feel so, showing the good places around the house...Languages

Bachelor degree in foreign languages (not sure about the use of diplomas though :-) I spent several years teaching French to children who recently arrived in France.Accommodation
We recently moved in, many small repairs to do, and it's a bit messy and partly unorganized yet!
Bedroom
Shared bathroom (shower).
Shared meals
I mostly use organic products in the kitchen, but there are many exceptions.
We regularly eat eggs and fish (and other seafood), but I would be happy to learn how to cook for vegetarians.
When my kids are at home, we could sometimes have chicken or pork sausages. (strict vegan diet might not fit well)
No television here.
My elder son plays the guitar, the youngest the trumpet. Although the house is really quiet most of the time! We just got an electronic keyboard and would love someone able to teach us!
There's no pet inside the house, except a few harmless spiders. Two hens in the garden.
I'm not ready to host dogs in the house (sorry).
We are not used to cigarette smoke, so we'll ask you not to smoke inside the house...What else ...
Close : Morlaix, Chateau du Taureau, Plougasnou, cairn de Barnenez (one of the oldest human buildings in the world!)...
A little further : Brest (Oceanopolis), Ile de Batz, Perros-Guirec...
IMPORTANT: local public transport is poor in our village, but very good as soon as you reach Morlaix (buses and trains).
I can pick you up at Morlaix train station (TGV), at Roscoff harbour for those coming by ferry from Ireland or England.
PLEASE let me know if you come with your car or bike...A little more information

Bonne continuation, Giulia!
I already miss them, they left a (sustainable!) print here, as we planted small trees, herbs, vegetables and flowers together.
Erik also transformed an old rusty trailer in a very convenient one to carry the kayak,… read more

I felt welcomed from the beginning and part of the life-house.
