Description
Hey! I am Esther, padagoge and mum of 2 daughters (Merida, 10 years and Amelie, turns 2 in April).
I am still at home with Amelie, but from June she will be going to a childminder in the mornings. Merida is in the 4th grade at one of the local schools.
At our the alarm clock usually rings between 6.00 and 6.20 am. Then I help Merida get ready for school and prepare breakfast. It's usually porridge/muesli. I either take Merida to school or she takes the bus at 6.59 am.
In the mornings I do the shopping and the housework, and in the spring I go to the allotment and look after the plants. Amelie usually takes a nap in the afternoon. Merida comes home from school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 1.30/13.40 pm. On Tuesdays she has dancing until 2pm and on Thursdays Christian lessons until 3pm. I usually pick her up and there is lunch and homework supervision. When Amelie is asleep, I try to make a little more time for Merida. The two girls like to paint and go to the playground. Merida sews, embroiders, rides her bike and plays cards. At the weekend we are either in the garden or at the beach (almost every day in the summer months) or go on a day trip.
You are welcome to spend your free time with us at the weekend or do something yourself.
We live at a small farm closed to the Baltic Sea between Wismar and Lübeck with sheep, chickens, geese, dogs and cats (none of my own). We have our own allotment garden nearby and when spring comes there will be lots to do again: digging, planting, weeding and some small repairs to the cottage.
It is quiet and peaceful here. Nearby Boltenhagen is a popular vacation destination, especially in summer.
The federal state in which we live is known for its beautiful countryside and old castles. The state capital Schwerin is about 40 km away.
In my free time, I like to go on day trips with the children. We like to go to the forest, the zoo or to a playground.Types of help and learning opportunities

In fact, this is also my first experience as a host. I have previously been a workawayer myself in Denmark (before Amelie was born). As it's difficult for me to travel with the children at the moment, I thought about simply bringing the cultural exchange home to us instead.
I am looking forward to introduce you to the German language and culture and to learn about your culture in return. :o)
How can you benefit from an exchange in our household?
We like to go on day trips together. This way you can see the beautiful sights in Mecklenburg County, learn exciting things about the history of Germany and of course learn or improve your language skills. You can help me with the cooking or, if you feel up to it, you can cook yourself. We eat a lot of potatoes, pasta and rice with vegetables and sauce, which is typical of the country. I also like meat and fish dishes, my daughter Merida is vegetarian. I'm flexible when it comes to cooking. We mainly eat organic and regional food. In the summer and fall months, we get our vegetables fresh from the field.
I am also happy to show you how to do it yourself as far as I can.Help
I am looking for a workawayer for a period of at least 6 weeks, who takes over small tasks in the household and some gardening. I prefer female or couple. I ain't searching for an Au pair, but of course you should like children. My kids are quiet easy to handle and well behaving. We are looking forward to a cultural exchange and I would appreciate if you could teach my oldest daughter your language or help her improve her english.
You should have a driver´s license and driving experience. It is not essential to have your own car.
I recently started singing in a cover band and always go to rehearsals in Lübeck on Thursday evenings. At the moment a nice neighbor takes care of the children during this time. I would like the workawayers to take over this task once a relationship has been established. And I'm happy to have a bit of help around the house and with gardening.
Merida would love to play with you (she is a lot into singing, dancing, acting and playing card games, but also likes to read a book or wach a movie) and would be glad if you'd pick her up from school from time to time. Amelie likes playing with her puppets and "cooking" in her puppet kitchen.Languages
