Description
My name is Rebecca, I am 28 years old and I like reading, writing and cabin-living. I am Australian and we moved to Sweden 4 years ago. I describe myself as calm, easy-going and friendly. I am a primary teacher, I work for an education company and also in administration. My partner Hanbang is 32 and is a researcher working at the university. He studied mechanical engineering and describes himself as reliable, a hard worker and extraverted. Hanbang loves music and playing the saxophone. He is Chinese and has lived in Australia and Sweden. We bought our cottage last year, and we are hoping to make it fully sustainable- a mini-homestead. We would love to grow fresh produce and start living small in 55m2. We want to live a more sustainable life. We wanted to host a homestay as a mutual exchange. We wanted to learn about new cultures and show a guest our favourite things about Sweden. The local places in Blekinge are the beautiful Swedish lakes, swimming holes and beach. Beach cafes, hiking trails in Swedish forests. There is also Copenhagen, Lund - cities with lots of culture and things to do depending on your interests. We would love to show you around.
Step into cozy rural life in a traditional scandinavian cottage surrounded by nature and farmland- lakes, forest, hiking trails, beaches and opportunity to explore Copenhagen, Lund and Malmo. For travelers who appreciate simple living, learning about Swedish culture with a welcoming and generous host. Host pays for one way transport and 2 hostel nights in one of: Stockholm, Gdansk, Paris, Prague, Rome, Pisa, Berlin OR London after your stay. 🌿

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are working toward creating a more sustainable mini-homestead and making some improvements to the cottage. We are flexible, easy-going people so let us know your travel plans. The work is not too strenuous low to moderate difficulty, but it is being outside usually. We would love to teach you about Sweden, show you around and learn about your country. You can learn some practical skills around the home, and about the nature and places like Copenhagen, Lund and rural Sweden. Welcome to the cultural exchange/ homestay!

Help
We are a welcoming and generous host. We would love for you to experience Swedish culture and a warm, cozy environment. The tasks are small hands-on home projects like mowing, tidying yard, organising the workshop/shed, gardening and making garden boxes, light painting. Swimming spots and hikes around for summer near the cabin and many opportunities to enjoy Swedish nature and nearby cities.

Accommodation
A cozy private clean room in our cottage with closet and shelving. We offer 3 meals a day, mostly fresh vegetarian food. Drinks are provided: water, tea and juice. There is also a kitchen if you prefer making your own food with the groceries we provide.

What else ...
Visit Copenhagen, Lund or Malmo. There is the beautiful Swedish coastline. We will take you to see local nature; lakes, beach and hiking trails in the Swedish summertime.
We value a clean and respectful living environment, so keeping shared spaces tidy is important to us, along with open and honest communication to make sure everyone feels comfortable and understood. We appreciate volunteers who are proactive, considerate, and willing to be part of a positive and easygoing atmosphere. In return, we offer the same.
Let me know in advance if you plan to be away overnight or travel during your stay.
We can drive you places on the weekend. There is train station at the nearby township and 3 buses a day to the cabin.
We provide hostel accommodation for one night in Copenhagen and Lund during your travels. We provide one way flight to a nearby city and 2 nights at a hostel there.
Welcome friend!
