We live a simple, minimalist life here in Cedar Falls, Iowa. We love adventure, cooking, community, travel, and learning about new cultures. We're opening our home up to new perspectives, creative ideas, and diverse cultures.
Projects we enjoy: building furniture, carpentry/home projects, automotive restoration, art, growing our own food...
We're in the early stages of moving towards a more self-sustainable lifestyle: composting, gardening, and building a greenhouse in our sunroom. We would love help creating and maintaining these projects. If you know anything about hydroponic systems we would welcome you with open arms. We're very interested in experimenting with this.

Help in the house
Your stay is a great opportunity to get your creative juices flowing. We're always creating and working on new projects. We will help you improve your carpentry, furniture building, woodworking, automotive, wood-burning, and design skills.
As an added bonus, you can work on your English with Michael, a TEFL Certified English teacher.
We want to share our skills with you, but are just as eager to learn from you too!
We have projects available no matter your skillset. We don't expect advanced skills, but welcome them if you have them! We always have housework, shopping, gardening, painting, or other tasks around the house.
You can expect to either have a shared dorm-style room or a private room with shared bath depending on availability. You'll share the rest of our house with us: kitchen, living room, and sunroom. We won't provide meals consistently, but are open to cooking meals together from time to time. You'll have access to our pots, pans, cooking utensils, and kitchen appliances.
Depending on the time of year you're visiting will change how much you'll want to be outside (winters get very cold). During the warm months, Cedar Falls has many parks and bike trails. The farmer's market is within walking distance from our house. We love to go there every Saturday morning throughout the summer.
In the cold months, we prefer indoor activities: yoga, reading, journaling, cooking.
To get around Cedar Falls the public transportation isn't great, but we have Uber and Lyft. At times it can be a bit unreliable due to limited drivers. You're always welcome to hitch a ride with us to the grocery store or to our next adventure!
