Description
Hello!
My name is Jerami and my grandma is Angeline (Ina). Our experience offers opportunity for growth, adventure and building character and compassion. We offer flexible options for volunteer and paid opportunities. Housing is included while you are working here.
While staying, You will be expected to help around the house with routine housework as an adult, as you would at home with a mutual benefit for everyone.
On top of routine chores, we have 2 hours per weekday of paying work, sometimes more if you are capable and interested.
These include helping on the homestead and with the rentals, cleaning, weeding, organizing and other labor.
Our home is centrally located in Anchorage Alaska, just 20 minutes from pure wilderness setting. There is opportunity to work additional hours for minimum wage, and you will have plenty of time after to go on adventures or find additional work in the city.
I am running a business, maintaining a couple properties as well as developing real estate while engaging in homesteading and subsistence activities. I often am traveling and need help around the house especially when I am gone. The workload is variable but consists of daily housekeeping, yard work and chores and assisting my grandma to help keep the house in order. She is getting to the point that the demand is too high for her. If you are diligent in your work, and help with cooking and cleaning up after mealtime, then we will provide basic meals within reason. My grandmother would love to invite someone to church with her on Sundays but it isn't required. We do not allow alcohol, drugs, parties or anything of that sort. It's a very wholesome household with traditional values.
We prefer a mature, compassionate, patient and responsible person with a driver's license who can help do the shopping and bring my grandma to occasional doctor appointments. She can't move very quickly because she has had two hip operations which are starting to fail.
I require a two-week trial to see if the position is a good fit for you and vice versa. Then we ask for a month up to a year, depending on your availability.
Opportunities for experience and adventure:
If you are interested in homesteading, permaculture, aquaponics, geodesic domes, fishing, hunting, boating, sailing, scubadiving, hiking, mountain-running and biking, paragliding, I do all of the above. Homesteading, gardening, building is a lot of work. I am adventuring when I am not working. I guided these trips for years, and don't mind bringing guests on occasion but it requires planning and lots of energy, so mindset and good health are key for making the most and join my trips. These activities are not a democratic process and will require you to be a good listener and aware of surroundings at all times in order to stay safe. I will cover your part of your costs on adventures if you attend but are often very expensive, so you will have to work very hard under my supervision to earn your place.Types of help and learning opportunities
