    Description

We are a young family of 4 (so it would be myself Olivia, my husband Kris, our son Kayden which will be 2 years old in June 2024 and our newborn which should arrive in April 2024. We also have a cat, a dog and a horse :) We live in the Chilcotin Grasslands, so there is lots of nature around us to explore. My husbands parents own a lodge with 10 rooms, which is located on the same property as our house (1 minute walk from our house to the lodge). My husband works full time at the lodge and I sometimes help out but I am usually working in town which is 30min drive from our home.

We are looking to find a babysitter/nanny to help us this summer so we can both work and earn money as we are planning on taking over my husbands parents lodge in the next few years.

Kayden is a wonderful little man, and no i‘m not saying that because he is my son lol, he is actually pretty good. He LOVES to be outside, running around, visiting the horses, playing in our backyard or just watch his grandpa go by with the tractor. He is usually not shy and warms up to new people pretty quick. He is super easy to deal with but he sometimes has a hard time playing by himself.. he likes you to play with him and show him things.

I can‘t say too much about our new baby boy as he is not born yet but Kayden was super easy as a baby so i‘m hoping that the new one will be easy as well :-)

I am originally from Austria, so I am trying to teach Kayden some German. So if you are from Germany it would be nice if you could talk to him in German… but it is not a problem at all if you are not from Germany/Austria!!!!! We all talk English here so we are more than happy to help you improve your English :-)

Like I said, my husband works all the time so he doesn’t get to spend much time with us in the summer but i usually just work 4-5 days a week so on my days off we can go to the lake, go shopping, do some sightseeing or whatever we feel like doing. We have a paddle boat, some bikes you can use and a few nice hiking spots in the area.

We have lots of lakes and hiking trails around us which you can explore. Lots of stuff to do around here :-)

  • Help

    Help

We mostly need help with babysitting our two boys (turning 2 in June 2024 and the other one will be born in April 2024). That means taking care of them, playtime, going for walks, feeding Kayden actual food and giving the bottle to the new baby and lots of other stuff you do with kids. But we could also need some help with a little bit of house work and maybe some cooking, cleaning or gardening. But don‘t worry it is not a workcamp here!!!!

    Accommodation

You would sleep in a motorhome by yourself. There is no washroom in the motorhome but we have a shower house (toilet, sink, shower) right next to it. It does have power but sadly no internet but you can use the internet in our house or the main house (lodge). Of course you will have all your meals in our house or the main house (lodge) with us as a family.

You will get room and board and also $200 for the month. :-)

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We live in the Chilcotin Grasslands, that means there is a lot to see. We have many different lakes around us.. some of them are nice to swim in and some are just nice to look at or hike around them. We do have a paddle boat so we could take it to the lake and spend the day paddle boating. There is also lots of different hiking trails including Farwell Canyon, which is like a miniature Grand Canyon. We do have a couple of bikes here which you can use to explore the area with or we can spend some time together on my days off. I do also have a horse, so if you are interested in horses you can come with me to take care of it and maybe also ride it.

My husbands parents do have some workawayers over the summer as well. So you would not be completely by yourself. :-)

Most important for us is, that your are good with children. You don't have to be a professional in babysitting but common sense and a bit of experience is a must. It would be great if you have First Aid but it is not necessary. We will most likely ask you a lot of questions about yourself because we just want to make sure we have the right fit for our family.

So if that all sounds good to you and you just want to spend some time in Canada, experience the culture, nature and all the canadian food, then you are in the right spot. We are looking forward to hearing from you. :-)
