I had an absolutely AMAZING three weeks with Erika, Jasmine and Jacopo. Erika and I had the most incredible conversations and became great friends--it was very relaxing that she spoke perfect English since she lived in England for a number of years. Jasmine and Jacopo are adorable and so friendly and engaging. They are currently learning English,
… read more but it was very helpful that I know an okay-amount of Italian. By the end of the three weeks I was so sad to leave, and I know that I will stay in touch with the family.
The work was pretty simple. I taught them English in the mornings and played with them throughout the day. While they were in school I had free time but once it was summer I was with them for most of the day. I also helped by washing the dishes. Weekends I always had off and Erika was happy to drive me to the train station if I needed. She also gave me recommendations for places to go and (my favorite part) introduced me to a number of her friends. We would have barbecues where I would meet both her Italian and American friends.
Chiusi is a nice town to be in (and their apartment was walking distance from the train station). The family lived in the "new town" but every day when the kids were in school I would walk up to the "old town" to hang out. It has the most incredible views, good restaurants and cafes, and a few museums. I met some very interesting travelers there.
I would highly recommend working with Erika and her family. It was an absolutely incredible experience. Thank you so much, Erika!!!You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

Staying with Erika, Jasmine and Jacopo was my first workaway experience and it was great! I have felt welcome from the first moment I have met them.
I stayed for about two weeks. The work wasn’ t hard. I have mostly cared for the children when Erika was working or away, prepared simple lunch and helped in the house with washing the dishes,
… read more doing the laundry, a very little bit of ironing and some cleaning. Erika has showed me many places and we have done lots of things together which was great! We even went to the sea for two days. Nevertheless, I also had much free time to visit towns like Siena and Perugia. The train station is 15 Minutes with car from the house. I was lucky that there always was somebody who could drive me, because there are no busses, only taxi.
Erika lives in a very small and quiet village, but in a beautiful area. There is lots of nature around, so I often went walking or I have taken a bicycle. From the house you have a wonderful view over the hills and the lake.
Erika is very caring about you and that you feel right. She is a open-minded, easy-going person and you will have lots of fun with her. Also her friends are very nice. If you have the chance to stay there do it!
I just can say thank you to Erika for this great experience!
