Description
We are a family of 3 Jeff and I are sixties bringing up our grandson who is now 25.
I work full time and Jeff looks after the house and the grandson! He now lives in Bordeaux.
The house is in the country but not too far from Barbezieux which is quite a large town (in French standards!) Angouleme, the principal town of the department is under 30 minutes by car. We are one hour north of Bordeaux.
We have lived here for 19 years now and these big old houses need regular and pretty constant attention. Like a big stone baby! Oh and we always have an ongoing wood pile challenge!! We so appreciate the help we are given by workaway helpers and we also enjoy hearing of your experiences and travels. Jeff is very competent and if you want to learn some skills, he can teach you.

We look forward to meeting workaway helpers and over the years have met people of many nationalities , ages and with different levels of experience. Jeff is very competent and if you want, he can teach you how to paint properly, how to fix a car, gardening and many other things.
Help
We have lived in our house for over 15 years and really appreciate the help given to us by workaway helpers.
It really in general upkeep and painting never goes amiss! So some gardening house maintenance and help with the wood pile.
We offer some great accommodation which is a separate fully equipped house attached to the main house which we would offer along with all meals for help with the chores mentioned. The accommodation is fully equipped and you have 2 bedrooms a large kitchen and sitting room with TV, wifi etc. I like to think I am a good cook! and of course all your meals, 7 days a week are with us.
The house has been renovated so really all we need help with is the up keep. Ideally someone who wants to pass a 2/3 weeks with us, get all meals, eating with us and accommodation in exchange for a 5 hours (4/5) days a week would be great. The hours are flexible but this is really the minimum we are looking for. Even sometimes, if you only have a week, contact us as that could work too.
We have had great times with previous workawayers and look forward to welcoming you. Two are good. But if you are travelling by yourself, please try us anyway. The work we need help with varies and sometimes one is just perfect.
We prefer non smokers. We have 1 cat . She is mostly outdoors but you know cats.

Accommodation
2 bed self contained house attached to the main house. Large kitchen, sitting room with UK TV ,heating, private bathroom. WIFI .
I have loaded some pix of the accommodation. You will be comfortable, I am sure! There are also some pix of the gardens. It is part formal and part jungle!
What else ...
We are in the country but we are happy to take you to places on time off. The local town on Barbezieux is about 10 minutes by car. There is also a bus service. There can be use of transport by arrangement. Angouleme is a great place to visit as is Cognac town.
We have 1 cat so if anyone has a cat allergy, we may not be for you!

Cindy worked with Jeff in the main part in the garden and tending the interminable woodpile!
She also helped with household stuff and helped Jeff with some decoration.
A pleasure to have her here and she would be welcome again anytime!
The area is peaceful & set in vineyards. Accommodation was in a seperate Ghite that was so comfortable & well equipped, it was a real home away from home. It was also perfect to get lots of studying & work done in the evenings.
