    Description

We are an Italian family with two young children, spending July and early August in our holiday home by Lake Idro, a peaceful and scenic place in Northern Italy.

We’re looking for someone who would like to join us for a short stay of about three weeks (ideally from July 20th to August 9th), to share daily life with us and help keep our home running smoothly. This is a cultural and personal exchange, not a job.

In return, we offer accommodation in a private studio apartment on the first floor of the house, with lake view, a private bathroom and kitchen.

Our area is ideal for nature lovers — we enjoy swimming in the lake, going for walks or bike rides, cooking together and spending evenings outdoors, sometimes with a barbecue. We speak Italian, English, and a little Spanish.

Lake Idro is a quiet place, surrounded by mountains and small villages. It’s possible to reach us by bus from Milan, and we’ll be happy to help with travel directions.

If you’re looking for a break from the city, some fresh air, and a simple, friendly atmosphere, we’d be happy to welcome you.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We see this experience as a way to share daily life, values, and perspectives with someone from a different background. You’ll be welcome to join our meals, outings, and small family traditions — whether it’s a walk to the local market, cooking a typical Italian dish together, or simply spending time by the lake.

We’re happy to share what we know about Italian culture, food, language, and daily routines. At the same time, we’re curious to learn about your experiences and way of seeing the world — especially for our children, who benefit a lot from meeting people from different places.

The local area is quiet, but you’ll have the chance to explore nature, visit nearby villages, and occasionally meet some of our neighbours or friends during summer events.

    Help

The main help we’re looking for is with daily household tasks: tidying up, loading and unloading the dishwasher, setting and clearing the table, hanging laundry, and small chores that help keep the home in order.

A strong plus (but not a requirement) would be someone who enjoys cooking and has some documented skills or experience in the kitchen. We are passionate about food and value quality and simplicity. We cook fresh, seasonal Italian meals and love exchanging recipes or preparing something together from time to time. We also have a wood-fired BBQ and access to excellent local meat, fish, and vegetables from the market.

You may occasionally be asked to watch the children for a very short time, especially if we’re both busy, but your main focus will not be childcare. Our children will be 2.5 and 5 years old this summer; they speak Italian, and the older one knows a few words of English, but communication may be limited if you don’t speak Italian.

We estimate about 5 hours a day of help, 5 days a week, with flexibility.

    Accommodation

You’ll stay in a private studio apartment on the first floor of our house, with independent entrance, lake view, kitchen, bathroom, and a comfortable bed. The space is clean, quiet, and ideal for relaxing or having your own time.

We provide all bedding and towels. Wi-Fi is available and generally stable. You can also use the washing machine if needed.

Meals will usually be shared with us — we cook Italian food (simple, seasonal, home-style) and are happy to involve you in the kitchen.

    Can host digital nomads

yes, we can host digital nomads. The private studio has a stable Wi-Fi connection, a table suitable for working, and a quiet environment, especially in the mornings. However, keep in mind that we do expect a few hours of help each day, so this is ideal for someone combining light volunteering with a reduced online workload, rather than someone working full-time remotely.
