Help in the house
Learn to live in a large group, improve your communication with mysterious teenagers, be charmed by a funny energetic kid, feel cared for by us.
We're a busy household with lots to do! You'll need to love kids, and be happy to get into what-ever needs doing. There's lots of laundry, cleaning, housekeeping, cooking, and gardening to be done - we can't manage it all on our own! Any house painting experience would be great too...we've got a lot of exterior and interior wood that needs oiling.
We're pretty flat out (often exhausted) and want people with us that are hardworking and domesticated, ie can clean up after themselves (yes, that means clean up after yourself, pick up your towel, wash up, keep your room tidy, etc!). We are extremely appreciative of your help and you will be treated with a lot of respect and care. Our teenagers are very busy studying (or pretending to) and involved in sports, music, surfing, yoga etc. They're lives are as busy as ours. After dinner they disappear into their studies (we think). They do help out too. On the weekends they cook meals for the week ahead, they mow the lawn, weed the garden, fold laundry, etc. One is a vegan, one is a vegetarian and the rest of us are pretty easy going but we do eat healthy food. And then we have a child! He is charming, he gets up early and he is demanding in his own charming way! The ideal workaway is someone who is independent and self-organised. Some workaway requests want more time and cultural exchange than we can offer! With a large family, our dynamic is to share meals, share life but also allow each other space to relax and have time out. Workawayers seeking a lot of language support, intense cultural exchange and lots of involvement may feel disappointed! We're just a little too overwhelmed at times. But if you are self-directed, hard working, happy to help, happy to do your own thing, you'll fit in well. Generally, one week stays work best for us as we give you one of the kid's bedrooms for yourself and move two of them together to provide the space for your stay.
We're also looking for positive role models for our teens.
And interested in getting to know you too. The mother of this family speaks Spanish and is learning Italian and French, so language practice is very welcome.

We live in a stunning absolute waterfront home, 3 minutes walk to Bronte Beach, one of the nicest in Sydney. It's right on the bus route into town, 30-40 minutes to the city.
We live in a considerate and respectful household. We are trying hard to make our kids more helpful and house-trained. Please understand we want people staying with us that are helpful too.
We love a laugh and a good time, but we're not a 'party house'.
There's also bicycles available for your use.
