We are a UK family, based in the French alps now for over 10 years. We have in the past run catered chalets and this year taking on a new venture of starting a laundrette, as well as a few chalets in light of how the industry is changing. We stumbled across Peisey Nancroix 12 years ago, after travelling round Europe in a VW camper for 6 months, and have never ventured back to the UK. Both children were born here, so this has always been home for them and us as a family. Working self employed and running your own business as always been a drive for us to provide and experience and lifestyle for our family. This will be the first time we are looking for outside help with the family side of things as the new venture needs our time and effort to get it started and working, and I do not want that to impact the children this winter. We have had staff support the business in the past so very understanding on communication, working together and supporting one another if and when needed. Its a massive team effort.
Babysitting and creative play
Help around the house
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
The benefits for the traveller can be that they will be living in a ski resort, becoming part of the family with bilingual children, and becoming part of a small community that supports one another. Its a traditional french farming village, that is a ski resort as well, that attracts many different people from all over Europe. Many bilingual people so if looking to enhance learning french or english, hear you can do both. As so much free time in the day, able to ski or snowboard, and meet even more people.
The help is looking after my 6 year old daughter and then 8 year old boy. The help would be collecting the children from the school bus , which is really close from home at 16:45pm. Take them home and supervise until 6pm. Wednesday afternoon, they will be needing to be entertained as well as on Saturday afternoons ( just one child) Massive advantage if have own transport but not vital as sometimes kids might be needed to get to some clubs on weekends and school holidays.

( food only available for one person, if a couple coming, just accommodation is provided for)
being in a winter resort, there are many winter activities you can do, plus french lessons being offered in the village, plus some opportunities to earn extra money with baby sitting, dog walking from people that work all season as well. The train line comes straight into Bourg Saint Maurice, and Peisey if 15 min drive up, there are public buses, but not many. On the train line, there are cities to see, Chambery, Grenoble, Lyon, also plus Annecy. If you are keen on mountain life, enjoy spending time with children, then this could be a great place for you. I expect my children to be treated as you would your own, they are fun, but will need help on homework and they are very loving, I don't want them to feel they will be missing out by our lack of presence in the winter, so really want someone to have an impact on them and make them feel happy and content. We also have dogs so a dog lover is key too !
Limited internet access
We have pets
We are smokers
Can host families
We have wifi in both the main house and the shared accommodation making it very easy and space to work if a digital nomads. Plus there are many of similar people that come out in in the winter or live here all year round so easy to make additional connections.
There is many people here with campervans and places to park up, but it wouldnt be great to use them very much in the winter due to the snow conditions, chains and snow tyres will be a must !
