  • Description

Help us to build an Ecohostel in the Philippines. An ecological hostel, where travelers and locals will find a home, exchange ideas on how to save the planet and dive together. If you want to know everything about the project, check out our video on You Tube: ask us for the link

We are focusing on ecological building and marine conservation. We are going to use sustainable materials like bamboo and ecobricks for building. If you ever wanted to learn how to build with bamboo and do something good for the environment at the same time, you are in the right place!

If you are taking part in our project you will also work together with local workers. Like this you can experience the Philippine culture which is all about living in community, sharing and team work.

In the area you can find beautiful dive spots around. We have a scuba diving instructor in our team, so there will also be the chance to become a certified diver in your free time. We want to show that there is another world below the surface and teach about the ocean, marine life and the trash problem. We are also going to organize beach clean ups, watch documentaries about the ocean and just have a great time together!

We also have local workers who know a lot about working with bamboo, so you can help them and learn how to build with bamboo. Other than that you can learn a lot about the Filipino culture. It is all about living in community, sharing, and team work. You will experience their hospitality and you`re gonna be invited to a Fiesta at least once for sure ; ) !

  • Help

We just started the building process. So we mostly need help with building. We are building with bamboo and Ecobricks. We will need a lot of help with making the Ecobricks because we need a lot of them to build the hostel! Later on we also want to start a garden. So we also need help with that. We are doing projects like beach clean ups, singing and playing with kids from the neighborhood as well. You can also help here.

  • Accommodation

You will stay in a tent. We will provide the tents, mattresses and bedding. If you have a sleeping bag, it would be nice if you can bring it. The toilet and shower we are providing are basic `Filipino style` toilets and showers. We will cook and eat together twice a day (breakfast and lunch). These meals are included and free. On your days off you have to take care of your food by yourself.

In your free time you can explore the area around Dauin. Just rent a motorbike and explore. The area is famous for its wild nature including waterfalls, hot springs, lakes, mountains and most of all for its beautiful underwater world. The coast of Dauin offers beautiful reefs and world class diving. Close by you can find Apo island which is known for its impressive coral reefs and turtles swimming around. If we are enough people we can organize a snorkel trip to Apo island. If you are interested in learning how to scuba dive, there is the possibility to become a certified diver as one of our team members is scuba diving instructor.
