I am married with two sons (18 and 22). Both my husband, Gerry, and myself are teachers. We have been hosting foreign students since 1990. We live in Spiddal, 1 km from the beach and the beautiful Galway bay in the West of Ireland.

We live in a bilingual region, English and Irish are both spoken widely. Irish is an ancient Celtic language, and both my husband and myself are English teachers. The West of Ireland is home to Irish traditional music, and there are local teachers of music. We live 1 km from the sea and kayaking, swimming and fishing are local activities. There is a craft center in the village and basket-weaving and pottery classes are available.
General house cleaning duties. If a couple wanted to come, one would do general gardening and light maintenance work.

Double-room in large spacious house (this could suit a couple). Views of the sea and the Burren from the bedroom. Food is a mix of traditional and exotic dishes, including vegetarian dishes.
Spiddal is a lively seaside village, with pubs restaurants and library. Close by, there is the West of Ireland bog, a large un-populated expanse of natural bogland. There is a frequent bus which goes west into Connemara, or east into Galway city. Galway is a busy university city, full of shops, pubs and all the usual amenities of a university city.
