    Description

If you want a beautiful island jungle treehouse community to call Home for a month or so, this could be your place!

    We are currently looking for:

    - helpers who want to enjoy our island paradise with us & learn
    - yoga teachers
    - WordPress/ Elementor help! (send examples)
    - photography/ social media (maybe! we want to have a cohesive style, so if that style fits yours, could be nice!)
    - anyone wanting to live in community in the jungle by the sea :)

We are an eco-lodge in the jungle by the sea in beautiful bocas del toro, panama. Just a 15 minute taxi ride outside of the main town on isla colon, our neighborhood is called Paunch Beach. Our place is a little jungle treehouse accommodation (8 tree houses, and a "surf shack" with 9 individual rooms, where you would stay), offering daily yoga, an ocean view infinity pool, and a shared kitchen. We have a view of the sea from here above the clouds, and are walking distance to the (intermediate/ advanced) waves at paunch & tiger tail (NOTE: our neighborhood waves are reef breaks and are only recommended for intermediate / advanced surfers. The season is December-April and July- August).

I was a work-awayer traveling the world for 3 years. I came to Workaway here in 2018 and told the onwner that one day I wanted to build something like this, and he said maybe one day you'll buy this ... and the rest was history.

Since I traveled the world as a workawayer for over 3 years, it's always been super important to me to keep this community vibe alive in this project and to offer positions for work exchange in addition to paid local staff. Having a place to call Home for a bit as a traveler is such a special thing - to be able to slow down and truly experience a culture and a place, and work along side the people - it's the best way to travel!

To me, this is a "family run business" and our volunteer and local paid staff are our little familia here in the jungle by the sea.

You can learn spanish by chatting with our housekeeper/ maintenance man, and see what life in the carribean is like :)

We hope you can come visit us and be able to call this little slice of the jungle Home as well :)

NOTE: we have a paid staff, in addition to our volunteer crew of 3-4 residents who are here to teach yoga, help out around the house, and act as hosts for our guests

Island Life in the carribean is a special thing to experience. Our place is in paunch beach and accessible to lots of other islands - so you will meet local people, explore the area, practice spanish, and learn about caribbean life in the paradise.

Our local team is wonderful and super friendly - they would LOVE to practice spanish with you :) Effrain lives with us fulltime and he is super fun and chatty, so if you want to swap stories, no matter how rough your spanish is, I'm sure you will get by! Siempre estamos familia :)

    Accommodation

You will have a private room, and access to shared kitchen space (please know that it is important to help keep our shared spaces clean! It's communal living, so no one is here to clean up after you).

NOTE: There is wifi in the main lodge/ hangout area, but not in your room.

NOTE: bocas is not the cheapest backpacker destination in central america. It's cheaper than costa rica, but more expensive than Mexico. If you're looking to stretch a super tight budget, it might not be the best fit for you at the moment. Costs would include: taxi to town ($3-$4 each way, per person, OR buying a bike for approx $100 / then reselling it before you go, and groceries can range depending on how simple you want to be. Fruit and veg here are affordable and good, but the grocery store prices can be a little bit sketchy sometimes).

    What else ...

The lodge is an amazing quiet, jungle by the sea location here on the main island in Bocas Del Toro - we are a 10-15 minute taxi ($3-$4 each way) from town, which makes it feel secluded but accessible. You could easily buy a bike (and resell it when you leave) for about $100 or less. Walking distance is several beach bars & restaurants (but no grocery stores outside of town).
