    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Fortunately, the local government of Tokushima is supporting foreigners who are living in Tokushima, which means that volunteers that stay for at least three months, will have free Japanese lessons twice a week.
Also, our NPO leader is ALWAYS eager to let all volunteers participate in as many cultural events in and around Tokushima as possible. And due to our Sister NPO, there will also be many parties and other various fun events. Especially boat and Karaoke parties.

Our Volunteers are highly encouraged to communicate with us, locals, and take part in social activities and have fun!

    Help

One of our main projects involves every morning we will water the flowers or weeding for three hours until 12 o'clock. Our NPO is also collaborating closely with another NPO which means that we occasionally (twice a month) help with cleaning the river.

We support an international nursery school and a local elementary school.
Volunteers go there once or twice a week.
We have our radio program on a local radio station! It is broadcasted every week.
We welcome volunteers who are interested in radio broadcasting and wants to be the host of the show!

    [Daily Work]
    1. Take care of flowers on a national road
    2. Play with and take care of children (1-5 years old) at an international nursery school 【once or twice a week】
    3. Talk on a live radio show on a local radio station 【once a week】
    4. Talk with university students in "English Cafe" time at a local university【once a week (just before the radio show】
    5. Help children learning at a local elementary school【Several times a month】

As our NPO grows we participate in various additional projects recently.
Once or twice a month we will participate in some activities in small villages helping farms .

※ Additionally, you can also have a work near sharehouse. If you want, we can introduce some jobs.
For example, cleaning job and reception in a hotel, restaurant staff, English teacher, baby sitter, convenience store
    and so on.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sometimes there will be fun cultural events with children or other events, that we will also have to participate in.
The volunteer help here is always very fulfilling and the workload is never too much.
However, we expect our volunteers to be a part of our team and show commitment.

We want someone who are always EAGER TO WORK and HELP US, and RESPECT other volunteers, local people and rules!
We HIGHLY recommend you to study Japanese language before coming here or learn Japanese here in Tokushima.
You will meet and communicate with local people who ONLY speak Japanese every day!
We would like to recruit volunteers who are interested in what WE do and can stay LONGER with us when there are many people apply at the same time.

(Also, Spanish speakers or people who can dance Latin dance are welcomed!
We want to learn Spanish and how to dance Salsa or Bachata...so you also can teach us!!! ;-) )

    Accommodation

    Provided Accommodation:
Currently we have an apartment for female and male volunteers (shared room/s). It is a shared house that more than 20 people live in and there is a community room in the apartment. Since our NPO continues expanding, you have to share one room with other volunteers. The number varies depending on when you come. If there are big events which need many volunteers, you are likely to share one room with a maximum of 5 other volunteers.

    Provided Meals :
Breakfast, lunch, dinner provided (you have to cook breakfast and dinner by yourself)

    What else ...

    Transportation:
When you fly to Japan get a ticket to Osaka (Kansai International airport), not to Tokyo (Narita or Haneda)!
If you will come to Tokushima direct, from Osaka to Tokushima it takes only 3 hours (USD 40) by bus or 4 hours(USD 20) by ferry.

The apartment is located in the city center (close to the bar and Izakaya district) and both the boat/river as well as the projects (close to the train station) are in walking distance.

    Application:
At least 2 month is required to stay as a volunteer.
In terms of volunteer selection, we prefer long-term volunteers since we are establishing a center, which means that you might be responsible for some small projects.

We require applicants to send us their CV and a short motivation letter/statement of interest ( 1 page).
After applicants' documents have been reviewed, there will be a short interview via Skype.

    Fees charged:
The flight and bus ticket to Tokushima has to be paid and organized by the volunteers themselves.

    Insurance:
Please make sure to have your travel insurance before you leave your country.

    Other:
We expect from our volunteers to respect local customs and follow the house rules.
