Description
Welcome to our home! We are excited to open our doors to you. You will have a private bedroom and bathroom in our safe and cozy home. We are an Egyptian-American family. My wife teaches English and accent reduction for non-English speakers, and I run a small digital marketing business from my home office. We mostly speak English, but I also speak Arabic.
We would love for you to become part of our family during your stay! In return for your accommodation and meals, we ask for your help with translating website content into many languages and some admin help, which we do for about five hours a day. We do ask for a minimum stay of three weeks to make the most of this experience together.
Please confirm your commitment to this arrangement before contacting us. Our profile shows our lifestyle and the space you'll stay in. We’d also love to learn more about you, so please share photos or social media profiles. Unfortunately, we cannot accept requests without personal photos.Types of help and learning opportunities

We reside in a villa where you'll be assigned a private bedroom along with an exclusive bathroom with a shower. Regarding meals, we offer full board - breakfast, lunch and dinner. Although you are welcome to use our kitchen to prepare your breakfast or lunch, we usually cook dinner most workdays, which is typically ready by 5:30 PM.
You'll be responsible for your own laundry. In our household, everyone prepares their own breakfast. We do provide WIFI access, but we request our guests to be considerate of the speed, sharing it with other occupants in the building.
We also have a policy regarding guests' return timings: we expect you to be back home before midnight as it is us who open the front door. Lastly, please note that external visitors are not permitted in our home. Also, this is a drug free home. What else ...
Classic Cairo (the historic heart)
The Pyramids of Giza & Sphinx – No explanation needed; bucket-list material. If you go early in the morning or at sunset, the views are spectacular.
The Egyptian Museum (Tahrir Square) – Home to King Tut’s treasures, mummies, and artifacts that will make you feel like Indiana Jones without the snakes.
Islamic Cairo – Wander Khan El Khalili Bazaar for spices, silver, lamps, and maybe some good haggling practice. Nearby, Al-Azhar Mosque and Sultan Hassan Mosque are architectural masterpieces.
Coptic Cairo – Visit the Hanging Church, Ben Ezra Synagogue, and the Coptic Museum — this part feels like stepping into a different historical timeline.
Cairo Citadel & Mosque of Muhammad Ali – Stunning Ottoman-style mosque with one of the best panoramic views of Cairo.
Nile Corniche & Dinner Cruise – A more relaxed side of Cairo. Floating restaurants with live music and belly dancing (touristy but fun).
New Cairo (modern Egypt)
This area is Cairo’s “Dubai-like” expansion, cleaner and more organized than the downtown chaos.
Cairo Festival City Mall & Downtown Katameya – Mega malls with global brands, fine dining, and cinemas. Good for when you need AC and a break from history overload.
Waterway & 90th Street – Trendy cafés, high-end restaurants, and lounges — where young Egyptians hang out. Think Instagram-ready spots with shisha.
AUC Campus (American University in Cairo) – Beautiful modern campus worth strolling through if you like architecture and student vibes.
Royal Maxim Palace Kempinski & Dusit Thani – Luxurious hotels with some of the best spa and dining experiences in New Cairo.
Family-friendly spots – KidZania Cairo (at Cairo Festival Mall) if you have children, and parks/gated compounds with green areas.
Nightlife & Dining – Sushi, steakhouses, rooftop bars — New Cairo is where locals go for a modern night out.A little more information
