    Description

We are a family of 4, soon to be a family of 5 with the arrival of our third boy. We live rural, west of Auckland, New Zealand, and enjoy a relaxed, family-focused lifestyle.

We are an easy-going family who loves spending time at home and outdoors. We are looking for a young, energetic, and positive person to become part of our family environment and assist with childcare and homeschooling duties.

The role would include helping with the boys during the day, supporting homeschooling activities, assisting with general routines around the home, and joining in with day-to-day family life. We are looking for someone who is patient, reliable, proactive, and enjoys working with children in a calm rural setting.

This position would suit someone who enjoys family life, being outdoors, and creating a fun and supportive environment for young kids.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Living with our family would provide a unique cultural exchange experience that combines both New Zealand rural living and South African family culture. We are a South African family who moved to New Zealand around 9 years ago, so our home reflects a mix of both cultures, traditions, food, and ways of life.
We live west of Auckland in a relaxed rural setting where family life, outdoor living, and community are important parts of everyday life. As part of our family, you would experience genuine rural New Zealand living while also being part of a South African household. This includes shared meals, family traditions, language, and the warm, family-oriented environment that is important to us.
We enjoy spending time outdoors, working around the property, relaxing at home, and involving the children in day-to-day family life. You would be included in normal family activities, outings, and routines, and we would encourage open sharing of cultures, traditions, and experiences from both sides.
We see this as a true cultural exchange where everyone learns from one another. We would love someone who is interested in experiencing both New Zealand and South African culture while becoming part of a welcoming and supportive family environment.

    Help

We are mainly looking for someone who can become an extra set of hands within our home and help make daily family life run more smoothly, especially with a new baby arriving soon.
The kind of help we would need includes assisting with the boys during the day, helping keep them engaged with activities, outdoor play, reading, creative learning, and supporting their homeschooling routines in a fun and positive way. We would love someone who is energetic and happy to be involved rather than simply supervising.
We would also appreciate help with general day-to-day household tasks connected to the children and family life, such as helping tidy play areas, preparing simple meals or snacks for the kids, assisting with routines, helping keep homeschooling materials organised, and occasionally helping around the home where needed.
Because we live rurally and spend a lot of time at home, we are looking for someone who enjoys a quieter lifestyle, is comfortable around children, and is happy being part of a relaxed family environment. Ideally, we would love someone who is caring, proactive, dependable, and able to work independently while also fitting naturally into our family dynamic.
