Description
We are a family living in Hoi An, Vietnam. I am a single mother of three children (8, 11 and 14 years old).
We live close to the beach (about 5–7 minutes walking distance), which makes daily life here very easy and enjoyable.
We are currently creating more structure in our daily rhythm, especially around learning time and routines with the children.
At home we eat vegetarian, mostly plant-based.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We live in Hoi An, a coastal town in Vietnam with a mix of local life and an international community.
You will experience daily life here with us, including local markets, the beach (about 5–7 minutes away) and everyday family life.
My children grow up with multiple languages and speak Dutch, German and English, which creates a very international environment at home.
You will also experience family life as a single mother with three children, as well as our way of building more structure into daily routines.
You will have free time to explore Hoi An and the surrounding area.
We value respectful exchange, openness and a realistic experience of living together.
Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.

Help
I am looking for support with the children and our daily structure.
The main focus is to be present with the children during their learning time and to help create a calm and focused environment.
This includes:
– sitting with the children during their learning time
– helping them stay focused and on task
– reading with them
– supporting simple, playful learning activities
You are not expected to formally teach or prepare lessons, but to support consistency and presence.
Sometimes it may also involve accompanying the children to a nearby activity, class or workshop.
I am looking for someone who is patient, reliable and able to stay calm even when things are not perfect.
We try to keep phone use minimal around the children and appreciate someone who can be present and engaged with them

Accommodation
You will have your own private room in the house.
Please note that the room does not have a window. It is simple, but comfortable and provides a quiet space to rest.
The room is located on the ground floor, while the family bedrooms are upstairs.
The house itself is spacious and set over two floors, located in a typical Vietnamese neighbourhood.
It is situated between the river and the ocean, both reachable within a few minutes walking distance.
The area is relatively quiet for Vietnam, while still being close to everything you need.
We share the common areas of the house, including the kitchen and bathroom
As part of the Workaway agreement (25 hours per week – 5 hours per day, 5 days a week), three meals per day are included.
Our diet at home is primarily vegetarian or vegan, with a strong focus on fresh fruits and vegetables. If you are fully vegan, we are happy to keep everything vegan during your stay.
Preparing meals is part of the Workaway exchange. How exactly we organize it, we will figure out together in a way that works well for everyone. You are welcome to take initiative in the kitchen and can naturally involve the children in the process – they enjoy being part of it and it’s a great way to share responsibilities in a relaxed, everyday setting.
Occasionally, we may order food from outside. In those cases, there may be both vegetarian and meat options available, and everyone can choose according to their preference. Some of the children may occasionally choose simple meals with meat. However, at home, we keep our cooking as much as possible meat-free.
We keep things flexible and will find a rhythm that works well for all of us.
