    Description

    We are a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) based in Buziga, Makindye Division, Kampala, Uganda. Organisation was formed with the intention of helping communities address the social and economic challenges that affect daily life and this includes; poverty, poor health, environmental concerns and limited opportunities for the younger generation. We believed that working together through an organised platform it would enable us over come this challenges.

    As we deal with this challenges, all our activities and programs are done following the rights and freedoms provided under the Constitution of Uganda and the Non Governmental Organisational Act 2016. Organisation is established to promote participation, volunteering and local initiatives that improve the well being of vulnerable members of the community.

    Organisation is committed to improving the lives of children and young people by creating safe spaces where they can learn, play and develop important life skills. This is achieved through games, educational activities and community programs that encourage learning, confidence, teamwork and personal growth. All this activities are guided by the theme "creating a better tomorrow," which reflects our commitment to helping children, families and communities building a brighter future.

    Organisation is governed by a Board of Directors and managed by an Executive Director who works closely with a Program Director, an Associate Director and a Senior management team of nine members. Below are the positions and their roles;

    - The Executive Director, is responsible for the overall leadership and strategic direction .

    - Associate Director, Supports program implementation and organisational development.

    - Program Director, Oversees programs and partnerships.

    - Senior Management Team (9 members) are responsible to cover areas such as community health, finance, partnerships, monitoring and evaluation, research, human resource and day to day operations. They as well help us plan, manage and deliver activities that benefit children, young peopled families in the communities we serve.

    In conclusion, we enjoy meeting people from different countries and building lasting friendships through cultural exchange, volunteering, and community service. We welcome volunteers who are interested in sharing their skills, learning about Ugandan culture and making a positive contribution to the lives of children and local communities.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Travellers will have the opportunity to experience everyday life in our community and learn about local customs, traditions, food, music and culture. By spending time with local people, children and travellers will as well gain a better understanding of how people live, work and support one another in Uganda.

    Traveller will take part in community activities, local events, sports, and social gatherings, giving them the chance to build friendships and connect with people from different backgrounds. They will also learn a few local words and hear stories about the community and its history.

    We believe cultural exchange is a two way experience. While travellers learn from us, we also learn from their experiences, ideas, skills and cultures, creating lasting connections for everyone involved.

    Travellers will mainly spend their time helping with activities for children and young people in the community, No previous experience is required for all our programs. Organisation welcomes anyone who enjoys working with children, has a positive attitude and is willing to take part in our activities which include chess lessons, play games with children, assist during community events, take photos, support social media activities, share simple skills such as English, art, music, sports and many others.

    Travellers will as well help us in planning the indoor and outside activities alongside a local team member.

    Travellers will work alongside our local team and help where needed. We value enthusiasm, patience, creativity, and a positive attitude more than professional experience.

    Travellers will stay in a clean and safe home within the community. Accommodation may be a private room or a shared room, depending on availability. Basic bedding and access to bathroom facilities are provided. Meals provided. The accommodation offers a comfortable place to relax while experiencing everyday life in the community

    During their free time, travellers can explore Kampala and nearby attractions, visit local markets, enjoy Ugandan cuisine, and experience the country's rich culture and hospitality. Popular places to visit include; Buganda Kingdom, Gorilla Trekking, National Parks, Lake Victoria, Ggaba Beach, local craft markets, cultural centres and wildlife destinations within easy reach of the city.

    Travellers are also welcome to spend time with community members, learn about local traditions, participate in recreational activities, and explore the surrounding neighbourhoods. Public transportation is readily available through taxis (shared minibuses), motorcycle taxis (boda bodas), and ride services such as Uber and SafeBoda.

    Those who enjoy working with children can join community games, sports, chess activities, educational programs, and mentorship sessions that help children build confidence, teamwork, problem solving skills and friendships. Travellers are encouraged to share their own skills, talents and ideas while experiencing everyday life in Uganda.
