    Description

A destination of heart and soul. We have a beautiful indigenous peace of land in Coffee Bay , on the Wild Coast of South Africa. In 1990 we were accepted into the Bomvana tribe, and we took our place at 19 Lower Nenga on the bank of the Bomvu river, which is a 100m away from the Bomvu beach. We live with the Bomvana community, and we live simply, and our aim is to encourage the traditional Xhosa culture to remain.

We are the only land owners in Coffee Bay who have kept the indigenous forest, and because of this our property is home to more than 40 bird species. Bird watchers paradise.

Coffee Bay got its name from a ship which sank carrying a cargo of coffee beans.

Today we harvest our own coffee beans , roast our own coffee beans, and run a unique coffee shop on the property called Rock Coffee. If you’re good with people there is also an opportunity to help out in the coffee shop if you like.

We used to have a backpackers many years ago, but we are no longer operating as a backpackers due to some unfortunate luck with tenants, and finances.

We recently had a very bad flood in our village, which impacted the property badly, our buildings and garden were flooded. The garden is now overgrown, and we need to rebuild some of our structures.

We are looking for some special humans (2 gardeners and 2 DIY / Builders) to help restore our gardens and buildings.

Daily work will include cleaning up the garden, weeding, pruning, cutting back, moving foliage, and debris, composting.

We also need to do some DIY / building projects on 3 of our buildings. This will include knocking down structures, using materials from one structure, to improve and repair another, fixing electrics, painting, paving, fixing decking and roofing. If you have any plumbing experience that’s a big plus!

Coffee Bay is home to beautiful beaches, a warm rural African community, hiking trails, fishing spots, and diverse wildlife - daily dolphin and whale watching from the magnificent wild coast cliffs.

If you want to immerse yourself in nature, and African culture. You will love this space.
Do not expect 3 star, this is Old Africa. Raw Nature, the true woodsmoke of Africa - where it all Began!
