Around the city there is plenty to visit by foot : museums, temples, mosque, river boardwalk, parks.
Also, easily accesible by shared transportation or local buses are many day trips:
Semmengoh nature reserve, where you can see semi wild orang-outans being fed twice a day (they will show up if they are hungry)
Bako, where you can see the Proboscis monkeys and wild boars and many macaques
Kubah, with it's waterfall and mountain summit
Satang, where the turtles come to lay eggs,
Gunung Gading, where you can see the gigantic Rafflesia flower
Wind and Fairy caves, the names say it all :)
Santubong, where you can hike, go to the beach and visit the amazing Sarawak cultural village
    Kayaking on the river

Borneo has so much to offer!
