Petsitting, indoor/outdoor maintenance while we are intermittently travelling.
===========
My name is Elaine and I live with my son (23) and we have a tenant and this will be our fourth year hosting. We are located in Thurles in the heart of Ireland and easily accessed by trains from all major cities. It is a great small town with a real bustling heart and a friendly nature.
I am looking to find someone or a couple/friends that is able to get involved and have a creative and curious nature to see things from a new perspective. Your time will be helping with clearning, some indoor and some outdoor work and looking after Roxy.
Roxy is our elderly Yorkshire terrier who loves walks and attention and just being around people. I sometimes have to travel for work and I would like to have someone that can look after Roxy so she can stay at home so might have to be around for the full period while I am gone. Our home is just on the edge of town and it is a lovely walk into the centre.

House & pet sitting
Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
I would be available to share some local experiences, we can cook together, you are welcome to learn sewing here, I have a machine available, experiment in the garden, and enjoy living in a small town in rural Ireland. If you want to study while you are here you are welcome to do so.
Help
I am looking for someone who can help me with cleaning around the house, and house projects and helping in the garden with general maintenance and clearning some areas of weeds, powerwashing etc. usually would be for no more than 4 hours 4 days a week, then your time is your own to travel or chill. There will be times when you would be needed more, to be around to look after Roxy when I might be away for work but I can let you know exactly when we are in touch. This role would be unpaid but own room and basic food will be provided and you can cook at your leisure.
If you are staying in the house during your time off, I would ask that you are part of the family life involving cleaning, cooking and tidying up.

I spent almost 2 weeks in Ireland at Elaine's, and am so grateful for Elaine's welcome. This experience was truly amazing, and mainly thanks to Elaine's recommendations and advices on what to do or to visit. And as for the help around the house and with Roxy, it only added to the stay. Roxy was such a cute little minx and it was lovely to walk her… read more around the neighborhood everynight as well as take care of her when needed. As for Thurles, it really is a beautiful city, with an easy access to trains all over Ireland which was really practical to discover all the main counties.
Once again thank you Elaine for welcoming me during this stay ! And I should advise anyone who wants to live an amazing journey in Ireland to stay with Elaine :).

Audrey was great, helped me so much knowing she understood the assignment and while I was away she used her iniatiave and did a power of work. Thanks again, it was such a treat to come back to an organised space.
I spent just over 2 weeks at Elaine's and it was everything I hoped! I got there a couple days before she left so she could show me around and let me know some things she wanted me to do. Elaine picked me up from the bus stop and immediately made me feel welcome. I had my own room with a double bed, which was clean and bright, basically luxury.… read more Each day I worked as I wanted, but made sure to have everything done before she got back. For the most part my tasks were organizing some rooms in the house, general house maintenance, washing the windows, and taking Roxy, her dog, on walks. Her son along with a tenant, were at the house the duration of my stay, both of whom were really nice but we didn't see each other often. Roxy was either a little ball of energy or sleeping by the window, overall she was fun to be around and easy to take care of! Elaine's home is a short walk from the Thurles city center, which is convenient if you want to go to the pub or grab a sweet treat. Thurles is great transportation wise, on the weekend you can easily explore other cities by train or bus. Overall my stay was great and I would recommend staying with Elaine if you get the chance! Thank you again!
Veronica from day one became part of the family, such a fabulous person and loved having her stay with us. She did a power of work helping me paint that I am truly grateful for and I am reminded of her kindness every time I look around my home. She get my 110%
I spent two weeks at Elaine's and I had a great time there! Elaine and her son are very nice and welcoming people, and the house is beautiful. I helped them with some painting work, basic cleaning and dog-sitting (Roxy is a funny and quiet little dog, we had fun together!). Elaine was great, she gave me suggestions for places to visit and also… read more drived me few times to some near towns. Thurles is a nice town, there are some nice pubs with live music and I found very easy to get in touch with local people. Moreover, it has got a railway station, so reaching other towns is easier than other places I've been to in Ireland. I'm very grateful for this experience!

Elaine was the best host, very kind and nice, she was always ready to help me when I need it and I felt really welcomed. Also her son was nice, even if we see eachother rarely. The house need some work and I tried my best to help, I'm sure all the work will worth it because it is a beautiful place. The town is small, quiet and nice, you can easily… read more find all that you need and a train station nearby to go to Dublin, Cork or Limerick, for example. Last but not least, at the house you can meet Roxy, one of the sweetest dog that you could ever meet. Thank you so much for this lovely experience 🙏
