Hi all. During these Covid 19 times Norway has been through a lock-down, reopened, hot spots for Covid reappearing, and now with travel restrictions for many countries. You can follow Norways agency for health and find out if your country is on the yellow and red list.
We will not accept anyone from a yellow country without prior quarantine and now one from a red listed country.
At some point we hope that a vaccine is developed and that we are all safe to travel. Carla and I have lived in several countries and love to travel and meet new people. But, there are worse places to be than home though :)
Carla and Geir are an American-Norwegian couple living in the Arctic fixing up a dear old farm which belonged to Geir's besteforeldrene (grandparents). It is located in Vikran, a 30 min drive from Tromsø, on a fjord with mountains all around. It is a beautiful and serene location. Our current projects include finishing a large garage/workshop, then a barn restoration, plus other small projects such as a green house and fixing up our 100 year old farm house. There is plenty to experience up here, whether you like fishing, hiking, skiing or simply enjoying nature. The spring/summer months offer an explosion of wild life and the midnight sun while fall and winter till easter offer amazing northern lights, winter storms, moonlight that is enough to ski or walk without artificial light.

We are well on out way to complete a 165 m2/1600 sq ft garage which includes a workshop. Walls, roof and all siding is done. Next insulation and all internal completions for shop, plumbing, electricity etc. Its a single story building with a loft which is traditionally framed in wood with wood siding. We need people with construction and carpentry skills. Were also undertaking fix up and remodeling of other buildings here and plan to do the kitchen and bathroom in the main house in due time. With large surfaces, painting is always on the list as well as. We do not stress about it much so that a rather massive undertaking is done with as much joy and satisfaction as we can muster.
Sleeping arrangements are located in separate annexes, and include bedding and linens. You are welcome to set up a tent near our river, or anywhere on our 800 acre property, if you enjoy a camping experience (must have your own gear).
This is a rural area, with a population of ca 200, but there is public transportation by bus, boat or a lift from us or a kind neighbor. A drivers license is needed if you want to get around yourself, or if you will be transporting construction materials.
We are a friendly family who likes to go with the flow and play some rocking good tunes while we work. Dance skills not required :-D
Weather is unpredictable. Be prepared to stop mid-project for a barbeque on the beach or a fishing trip to take advantage of a beautiful moment. Full on winter and darkness can requires all the protection one can get outside but plenty of fire wood ensures no one is cold inside.
