This is a family owned estate acquired from the Erskines at the turn of the 20th century. Before that this had been the seat of the Erskine family since the mid 16th century. Until now this has operated on a conventional country estate basis mostly farming and forestry and some limited residential lettings. This has started to diversify through holiday lets, upmarket B&B and some limited corporate events (e.g. the music festival amongst others). We are now looking to increase this further through weddings, more corporate lettings and even Glamping in the longer term.
We are looking for workawayers keen to see Scotland and help a traditional estate with routine jobs and roles so that the professional staff are free to focus on the business elements of the estate.
Help in the house
This place is an evolving country family owned estate looking to diversify. During the summer months we hosts events with the biggest being a music festival. We are situated perfectly on the foothills of the Trossachs National Park and adjacent to the Loch Lomond National Park and thus ideally situated to explore some of the highlands. Additionally to this we are only 20mins from Stirling (the home of Stirling Castle), 1hr from Edinburgh and 45 mins from Glasgow so within easy distance of experiencing Scotland's cultural heart.
This host offers accommodation and payment.
We are looking for an eager and willing individual or couple to work with the estate team on a variety of tasks from light building, gardening and general maintenance around the estate. No specific qualifications are required other then a 'can do' approach and an eagerness to meet and work with new people. Also the occasional help with looking after the family dogs.
Bed and board and transport included. Transport is either Estate vehicle by arrangement or assistance to local transport hubs
Very Limited French
Self sufficient flat within the house. We would ideally like an individual or a couple who are happy to eat with the family so that we can get to know them. However, the flat has its own kitchen and living area to provide independence.
The nearest train station is 20mins away (Stirling) which takes 55mins to Edinburgh centre or 40mins to Glasgow centre. There is also a lot of out door activity throughout the surrounding area particularly in the two nearby National Parks. Stirling also has a number of historic sites to visit.
