    Description

We are an Australian family of four who live in suburban Hobart, on the edge of the bush. We both work and have two primary-school aged children. We also have a big hairy dog who is very friendly and lovable. In our spare time we like to go on bushwalks (usually short ones!), visit local beaches, or putt around in our little boat. We would be happy to take you with us on short outings.

We have a modern, well insulated home with stunning views. There are walking tracks and mountain bike tracks through the bush behind our home. Our home is about 15 minutes into central Hobart by car, and we have a bus stop about 100m from our door.

    We are a non-smoking home.

We lived in Japan for more than 5 years and know it can be hard to meet locals when in another country. Stay with us and you will get to know local Australians who know their way around Tasmania.

  • Help

    Help

We need help with general housekeeping, gardening and sometimes some child minding during the school holidays.

Help around the house might involve cleaning windows, vacuuming (lots of dog hair!), laundry, sweeping out the garage, mopping the floor, etc.

Gardening work might involve spreading some mulch, weeding the paths and the veggie patch, planting seedlings, and perhaps work on the lawn (spread some top soil and sprinkle some lawn seed).

Our kids are fairly independent but too young to be left alone for a whole day. They would love to have someone around who likes board games (especially chess), creative play (drawing and painting), and who will kick a ball and fly a drone with them! We often work from home but can't entertain the kids while we are meant to be working.

If you like dogs, and are comfortable with a very big dog, you could take our dog for a walk in the mornings.

A bus runs from our neighbourhood into the centre of Hobart, where you can explore the docks, museums, and history. Other highlights of Hobart include numerous bushwalking tracks on both sides of the river, an extensive cycle network along the river, and great food.
