Our farm is located in Puerto Galera on Mindoro Island, a small paradise for nature lovers and divers. We are Thomas and Rose, a retired german-philipino couple and the founder of a project which was established in 2018 to try and break the circle of poverty, unhealthy living and illness of the local Mangyan community through a sustainable way of living. Currently the farm is developed by a Mangyan family who is living on the land and would appreciate to get some support. At the moment there are 5 adult workers, the males are doing farmwork, the females are cleaning the area, cooking, taking care of the kids. Their mother language is Tagalog, they also speak a little English and you are very welcome to improve your nonverbal language skills. But don´t worry, we live only five minutes by tricycle from the farm and Thomas (fluent in English, Tagalog and German) will be there to give you an introduction. He will be available for any kinds of issues that might arise during your stay.
The entire property is about 1.5 hectares of which a small part is already cultivated and the rest is forest and overgrown land, ready to be revitalized with fruit trees, vegetables, and herbs.
You have a chance to experience the culture of the natives and at the same time the possibility to put your own ideas and knowledge into practice. We are looking for independent and open-minded volunteers who are interested to learn about permaculture, love to be in nature, and get their hands dirty.
We welcome all people on our farm, whether you are already experienced or new to farming and willing to learn. For volunteers who have no experience in farming we think a minimum stay of 4 weeks would be best, so that both sides can benefit from the experience. A minimum stay of 2 weeks would only work for someone with experience, who could start from day 1 without much instructions.

On our farm you will have a chance to get to know the Mangyan culture. They are the indigenous people of Mindoro and live mainly in remote areas of the island because they were driven off and pushed back into the mountains more and more by foreign settlers.
We welcome all people on our farm, whether you are already experienced or new to farming and willing to learn.
We can always use workawayers with special skills like carpentry, site planning, product development (fruit jams, oils, soaps or other products), or general maintenance work.
If you like teaching (basic reading, writing etc) or social work you are more than welcome to develop a long time project with the Mangyans.

We can accommodate four volunteers at the time. You will live on the property in a house with four separate bedrooms, shared kitchen, and big terrace. Two rooms with ensuite bathroom and two people who share one bathroom. All rooms have windows and are furnished with single beds and fans. There is NO WIFI access available, therefore it is advisable to buy a local simcard. Basic food like rice, veggies and tofu will be provided but you have to cook and prepare it for yourself. There is also a bakery close by where you can buy fresh bread every morning.
In your free time you can explore the beautiful nearby hiking trails, a huge variety of dive sites and snorkeling spots, or just relax at one of the many stunning beaches. The closest beach is situated about 200m from the farm property.
You are more than welcome to use the fully furnished Yogaroom and the private beach at our house (5min by tricycle from the farm).
Thomas and 5 very cute dogs can show you the nearby surroundings and hiking possibilities.
