I am a social entrepreneur, my name is Ajamal. I am a finalist of the project "Change the world around you" organized in 2015 by the University of Central Asia and funded by Coca-Cola.
When we had two daughters in my family, we thought how we could better know our children and how we could help them better know the world around them. With these thoughts, my husband and I decided to open a kindergarten where we might help other parents raise children in a friendly family atmosphere.
Our kindergarten is designed for 30 children, today there are 22 children in it. 4 children from materially disadvantaged families visit the kindergarten thanks to philanthropic assistance of people who care about the poor families and orphans.
The kindergarten is located in the courtyard of our house, it is warm and cozy. The personnel consists of 4 people. We are looking for English-speaking people who have the experience and desire to communicate with children from 3 to 6 years.
We live in a quiet city of Karakol at the foot of the Tien Shan mountains. 10 kilometers from the city there is one of the best ski centers in Central Asia. In winter, all the football fields in the city turn into ice skating rinks. In the summer time around the city there are many opportunities for active recreation - from trekking to horseback riding. The city of Karakol is a place of intersection of several cultures and ethnicities and offers many interesting places to visit. There are many cozy cafes in the city where you can taste dishes of Kyrgyz, Russian, Dungan, Uigur cuisines.
In addition to Kyrgyz, I speak English and Russian. For the volunteer, we have a separate room. In our house there are all conditions for comfortable staying - 24-hour internet access, bathroom with shower, toilet, hot water. In the house there is a small garden with fruit trees. The house is located near the Karakol river with picturesque shores.

Centuries of trade and migration have shaped the city and molded Karakol into a unique crossroads of food, culture, and nature. Once a small military outpost of the Russian Empire, then a busy 20th-century Soviet state, and now a vibrant independent Kyrgyz city, present-day Karakol is a place to explore the region's unique history.

We are looking for English-speaking people who have the experience and desire to communicate with children from 3 to 6 years. Specifically, you would be asked to provide assistance with taking care of the kids 5 days a week, 3 hours a day, from 9am to 12am. You would help us with serving the breakfast (not cooking), holding the 1-hour lessons and in the warm weather with looking after the kids at the open-air playground.
We have been treating our volunteers as family members and try to establish as many opportunities to encounter with the Kyrgyz culture as possible. Be sure you will be welcomed to all our family occasions and even a desired guest at our relatives' festivities.
For the volunteer, we have a small bedroom with cosy furniture. In our house there are all conditions for comfortable staying - 24-hour internet access, a cozy kitchen where we spend long evenings treasuring our time with family, bathroom with shower, toilet and hot water. In the house there is a small garden with fruit trees. The house is located near the Karakol river with picturesque shores.
The volunteers will be provided with three meals a day - a continental breakfast with tea or coffee, a lunch with the day care centre's personnel and a dinner with our family. We love Kyrgyz, Russian, Uzbek and Uygur cuisine, but also can prepare meals to accomodate to different tastes and wishes of a European/American native. Those wishing some autonomy in the kitchen will be provided with an opportunity to cook familiar food. At least once a week we will have a dinner in one of the numerous local cafes thus letting to savour ethnic diversity of Karakol food.
Karakol is a vibrant city with tourists coming from all over the world, especially in the warm season. The ethnic diversity of its food and markets, the welcoming nature of its peoples and homes, and the vestiges of many eras of change make Karakol a fascinating place to relax, eat, shop, interact, and learn.
