    Description

Skattmansö - a valley carved out by a beautiful meandering river, surrounded by green rolling hills which is a rare sight for this part of Sweden. Besides exploring wild nature, there is a big number of historical landmarks nearby such as medievel stonechurches in each little village, and numerous of rune stones and grave fields from all the way back to bronze age. If you're more into doing things with other Swedes involved, we have a lot of events going on during the summer , all summarized by "". And, daytrips to Uppsala or Stockholm can be made without effort.

We moved here 2 years ago to settle in an old traditional Swedish cottage house, knowing that it would be a challenge to convert it to a somewhat modern living standard for our family with two little ones. Work is progressing and hopefully we can be permanent here soon enough. First thing we did was to build a guest house, where family and friends stay occationally.. and this summer, hopefully you? :)

  • Help

    Help

We need help in several areas, but mainly it will be house and garden projects.

This summer will work on the extension we built on the main house. The main parts are in place, so there is no heavy construction happening. It's a leisure project and we have no deadline, meaning youre free to help in your own pace.

What we will do is to will teach you some old building techniques like mixing clay with sand and straw to put on walls, seal gaps in stone foundations and more. There is also painting with the traditional Swedish red "flour paint". And, you can help us with some easier carpeting tasks, all depending on your interest!

For gardening, we have to clear some more land to make space for crops. But also care for existing crops, or taking care of apples and berrys, or even mowing the lawn. The list can be long here as well and again depends on your interest!

And, if you're good at cooking that's also an opportunity!

We can rotate tasks so that you dont have to do the same thing every day, all depending on your preferences.

    Accommodation

A separate guest house with 2-3 beds, with your own shower (outdoors, but with warm water). Toilet is in the outhouse. Internet is of course also provided and is pretty fast for countryside living (100mbit/s).
There's also a small kitchen in the guest house. Our idea is to make most meals in the main house, and to have a rotating schedule for cooking. But we can also adjust to what you're comfortable with!
